Discovering the Toronto Subway - What I Wear

If you would have told me when I first moved to Toronto 20 plus years ago that one day I would be taking the subway by choice, I would have laughed and probably suggested that you cut back on the bubbly.

After living in the country for the past 7 years, I'm ready to give city life another chance and have been spending more time at my home in the city. When I was speaking with Mr. G. about this "adventure" of returning to the city- I said - I was going to embrace city living like I had never done before - and that included learning to take the subway!  My how life changes, here I am today taking the subway by choice.

And since I don't usually do things the easy way ...
I picked a snowstorm day to venture out and "explore" the subway.

As drivers slipped and slid on the snow covered streets ...

I made my way warm and comfortably beneath the city.  And what's even more amazing about taking the subway is all the underground paths. Once you learn the stops - you can move around the city without venturing out into the cold. If you are lucky to live steps from the subway and work within the subway paths you can literally avoid the winter weather.

I'm learning comfort dressing is key when it comes to taking the subway. My Cole Haan boots, cross body bag from a Paris market, Gucci sunglasses (for when I venture outside), Coach gloves and Michael Kors ear muffs have become my go to winter accessories on my subway days.

My Kenneth Cole winter coat has proven to have been a great investment. It keeps me warm and has a hood that can be easily pulled up when the temps drop, the wind blows and the snow begins to fall. My Ralph Lauren scarf keeps my neck warm.

My pink tones Burberry scarf and black leather Soho shoulder bag - Gucci and Chanel eyeglasses (for indoors).

And what's a subway outing without stopping to enjoy a hot chocolate and treat.

You are the curator of your life so live it luxuriously ,

Looking Stylish in the Rain ...

The calendar says SPRING has arrived !!! and once the snow finally disappears and the temps start going above zero - the rain will come. But that does not mean we can't dress stylish. Whether you opt for wellies or heels I hope these images will inspire you to add a little fun into your rainy day outfits.

Sarah Jessica Parker not letting the rain dampen her style...
Wellies like Hunters or Burberry easily turn a dreary wet day into a fun stylish day...

And who says you can't wear heels in the rain???? ...

Classic trench coat inspired ...

A little red twist on a classic ...

My Pasotti Purple Dahlia umbrella with its double canopy which conceals the frame work of the umbrella with a large dahlia on the inside is how I add a little style and fun to my rainy days. I surprised myself when I splurged on it a couple of years ago, but it was worth every penny - not only is the hand made quality perfection! Seeing the dahlia inside on rainy days brightens my day and I smile.

How do you add fun and style to your rainy days?

Hugs and Blessings,

What I Wore ~ Walking Dolce & Gabbana

The weather was amazing this past week ... there was even a day where the temps hit a high of 16 degrees C. For early December this is amazing! In the city (unlike at our home in the country where snow already covers the ground) not a trace of snow can be found. Even with the unusual double digit temps, it can still feel crisp when being outside for longer than running from home to car and vice versa.

On our walk by the lake ... I kept comfy in my quilted mauve over coat (had this for almost 8 years); Burberry cap (from two seasons ago); grey silver handcrafted scarf (gifted by a friend); Steven Madden brown wedge boots and brown leather Coach gloves.

Dolce kept warm in his hand-knitted blue and white sweater (from an artisan fair - a couple of years ago) and Gabbana in her purple nylon (outer side) and pink fleece on the inside Waghearted vest (gifted from Yorkie cousins in Vermont - Max and Chanel last year).

Not only did we have an amazing view of the Toronto skyline ...a few feather friends swam up to greet us.

We had a wonderful walk .... Walks in the city sure are different from our walks in the country.

Fabulous view, a great bench for sitting and enjoying a  few tranquil and relaxing minutes in the day.

Hugs,
