Tea in the Flat at my City Home ...

Welcome to Over a Cup of Tea with Celia M. - #5

This week's tea is taking place at my home in the city. Actually in the lower flat of the house which the contractors have just completed (they are now focusing on the upper two floors). These beautiful flowers were the thoughtful gesture of Mr. G. to help brighten the flat and bring some nature into the space. Something that surrounds us at home in the country.

Since the only real furniture in the flat is in the bedroom and a writing desk in the living-room area, I have set tea at the counter.

Some yummy maple butter and caramel spread - which my sister brought for me for a Trading Post near her cottage on the French River. The fabulous thing about being the city is that there are so many wonderful bakeries ... so what is in that white bag you may be asking?

Pecan, chocolate chip scones ...

The teacup was a gift from my friend Janice - a few years ago. The stamp reads: Bella Lux, Gracie Bone China, Porcelaine Bone China, made in China. I love the generous size handle and the thumb rest. The various shades of pink roses are a cheery addition to tea. And I especially love the rose on the inside of the teacup.

Scones ready to be coated with scrumptious maple butter and caramel ....

There you have it my friends, afternoon tea ...

For today's tea we are enjoying a favourite ... Marie Antoinette tea from Laduree in Paris.

Being in the city is bringing back wonderful memories of not only living in the city but great times I had with my friends in this home. I can't wait for the upper floors to be complete so we can split our time more easily between country and city.

Do you live in the country or the city? and would you change it?

Hugs and Blessings,

  1. I love scones and would rather have one than dessert! This one looks very yummy. We have a home in Florida in a country club...on a golf course and a condo in the mountains of NC. We love spending time in both places....we are blessed. Enjoy your afternoon!

  3. I would love to join you for tea Celia, the scones and spreads look delicious. We've always lived in the suburbs, and now a rural region which I like. Travelling to Toronto happens only occasionally but you're right - so many boutiques and bakeries to choose from.

  5. Dearest Celia,
What a lovely tea you created for blessing your first renovated floor of your city home! Love your flowers, the china and especially those yummy scones. What a great presentation with tiny spreading knife tied to the two spread jars! You always show some simple, yet elegant delights.
We live in the suburbs, just outside the city limits and we love it so far!
    Hugs,
    Mariette

  6. Your tea looks lovely and the scones sound like something I'd enjoy a lot.

We live in a small city and I like it a lot. Close enough to get out and hike when we want to, but with all the amenities of modern city life.

  7. It looks lovely. We live on a rather tiny island that is connected to the mainland by a 2 mile causeway. We rise and go to sleep by the sound of the waves and I wouldn't change it for anything.

  9. I am rural, love it...but do confess I miss the amenities of a big city at times...there are things I just can't find without driving at least an hour. But...your tea is scrumptious! And such a cheerful burst of color with the Gerberas...what a treat from your sweetie!

  10. Darling tea time with your pretty dishes. Your scones look so yummy! I live in the woods near a small city. Winter time we go south near two large cities with lots of shopplng! Best of both worlds!

  11. Hi Celia, Your scones look delightful. The flowers are pretty, and so is your teacup. What a blessing to be able to divide your time between the country and the city! We live in the suburbs, just minutes from a city of 300,000. I grew up in a tiny town of just 400 people. Enjoyed your post, Celia!

  12. Mmm, I miss England right now Celia, and it's still going to be a month or so before I get there. But the first chance I get I'm off to Blenheim Palace to have some cream tea with yummy scones. They probably won;t be a yummy as your scones though. :) Lovely catching up with you again this week and I hope your week is going to be a good one. :)

  13. Hi Celia,
I would love a scone with the maple butter please and I'd love a cup of that tea. I live in the suburbs. We're a little country but only minutes from the city. We love it here because we can walk to Sears if we want to but we're surrounded by fields and trees. We have the best of both worlds really. Thanks for sharing and joining me for Tea Time. Enjoy your week.

    Blessings,
    Sandi

You make me so hungry! lol! Just looking at your beautiful images of those tasty topped scones makes me want to reach in and pull one out for me : )
Your Gracie tea cup is very pretty. I love it's large ring handle and gorgeous flowers. I have one just like it!
Now, about your question.....I have dreamed of living in the country my entire life. But I live in the city and always have. Now what's up with that???

  15. Those scones look so delicious and I love the idea of topping them with maple butter! Your tea cup and white tea pot are so pretty. City or country? I love scenic drives in the country and going for long hikes, but at heart, I'm all about the city.

  17. Lovely tea Celia, I live in the city/country. That is in the country but in the downtown of the very small town. I wouldn't change it for anything - Love the slower pace - your teacup is gorgeous and the scones with the maple butter and caramel spread sound divine - beautiful flowers to grace your tea. I am delighted to share that your post is one of the top three viewed and will be featured this week at A Return to Loveliness!
    I appreciate you sharing,
    Kathy
