One Chapter Finishes ~ Another Begins...

First THANK YOU, with all my heart to everyone who left a comment or sent an email with encouraging words of wisdom, support and inspiration in response to my previous post. Each and everyone one of you contributed to giving me strength to turn the final page of the Chapter that was my pre-accident life.

With the support of various psychologists, rehab team and you wonderful readers in my post accident journey I`m learning it`s OK to go back and re-read a paragraph or two. But to continue on it`s best to keep these re-read visits short and quickly get back to living as that is the only way this current draft is going to turn into a solid Chapter as good or better than the ones I have already lived.

The next Chapters in my life have patiently been waiting.....

To be written!

Getting Back To Regular ...

...posting with a few changes.

Hello dear friends and readers of High Heeled Life, summer ~ its hot, humid, dry, carefree days are almost a distance memory and the brilliant warm reds, oranges, browns and yellows of autumn beckon new adventures and changes. The first half of 2012 has been a myriad of emotions, ups and downs on my road to creating Me and my Life.

One of the biggest changes came when I had to face the reality - that I am not able to return to a corporate career. Something that various rehab therapists had elude to for some time. But  I was in denial until the neuropsychologist put it in black and white. As I read the report it was like a ton of bricks ~ "not able to return to full time or part-time work. Part-time volunteering within a structured environment "may be" suitable". It's amazing how seeing something in writing really makes it REAL.

So, after a few weeks of drawn out depression, tantrums, and crying - I picked myself up and decided, if volunteering is going to be it then I'm going to be the best volunteer I can be!

Blog writing Direction:
Blogging is a medium through which I can volunteer my time ~ via writing.

When I started in 2010 it was to help with my speech therapy. Over time it became about sharing my journey. Over the past month or so I have been going back and rereading my posts. I wanted to get a feeling about what I was blogging about and determined if it's a path I wanted to continue. As you may have noticed with some of the recent posts and the look of the blog itself things are changing.

With help from friends and their wonderful patience and guidance, the direction I hope to take my blog writing in is about Life and Transition. Through my story, journey and experiences I hope to inspire others to not give up their dreams; to live in and enjoy each moment; that no matter the reason for the detour which sent their life into transition ~ WE are the architect and writer of how WE LIVE our life!

The Life you were Living has been Discontinued..

and replaced with a Life in Transition ...

Changes occur in our lives; marriage, death of a loved one, divorce, traumatic event(s), illness, parenting, shifts in friendship, career loss, the list of possible events that may alter the path we thought we were on is endless. Though different and unique to each person/life these events do have one common denominator (whether expected or unexpected) they will result in sending one's life into transition.

Transition can be a very scary place to be, as it is often made up of numerous unknowns, all at the same time. What will I do? How will I support family/myself? Who will want me? Where will I live? Why is this happening? When will it be over? Unfortunately there are no simple answers, cookie cutter solutions, or preset time for healing.

There is no RIGHT or WRONG way to deal with your Life in Transition, we are all different and our journey through change will also be unique to us.

It's OK to cry ...

It's OK to stay in your PJs ...
(for a couple of days)

It's OK to want to be by yourself ...

Life Transitions are the result of an ending, it does not matter whether change was expected or unexpected, just like all endings (good or bad) it's important to grieve the loss of who you were and the life you had.

Again there is no preset time for grieving ~ for some it may be minutes, while others will carry the grief of loss for weeks, months and possibly years. What is important is to acknowledge the grief and carry on living. With each step forward creating a new you and or life, you are a step closer to living life by your terms and no longer being victim of change.

Life in Transition will be a new series here on High Heeled Life in the Country, starting autumn 2012. I welcome any questions you may have related to facing Life in Transition or your tips on getting through life changes. You can email me at fallingoffahighheeledlife@gmail.com , I look forward to your emails.
