Murano Glass ~ Hand Crafted Jewlery ~ Luxury

Earlier this year I did a post titled Hermes ~Perhaps the last real luxury? read it here.

As I continue to work on re-inventing myself post accident, I find myself gravitating towards a simpler life. This however does not mean that I’m packing up my love for precious and beautiful things. It does mean though that I seek items which will last not only the test of time but that fickle little thing we all love “Fashion”. It appears it will take more than a car running me over and a bump on the head to extinguish the Fashionista in me. If anything my passion for things that are created by true craftsmen, created by skilled hands and the drive for providing quality above quantity, such as a Hermes hand bag, has been ignited.

So when I stumbled unto Murano Glass Jewelry imagine my delight in learning that it was created using the same glassmaking techniques used to create Munrano Glass. The making of Murano Glass is a complicated and sophisticated process, as each piece is actually an original hand-made work of art.

These wonderful works of art are created, today on a small island just north of Venice, using the same methods that have been the trademark for centuries, of Murano Glass. Some pieces are functional and some are decorative – all are exquisite. Murano Glass pieces are considered the height of elegance, refinement and good taste, making them a true pleasure to own and to give (and receive!) as gifts.

Of course with every great find, there is usually a little challenge, especially when it is produced across an ocean and so sought after. One can wait weeks and sometimes months when their heart is captured by a much sought after European import. Remember each piece is handcrafted – not mass produced – quality takes time.

To the rescue for those of us living in North America; MuranoGlassGifts.com, a family owned business, dedicated to quality and customer satisfaction (each piece offered is selected by them personally). They stock everything you see on their web site, which means you receive your pieces quickly.

And the best is they offer Free UPS Ground Shipping to USA and Canada ~ and Free FedEx Ground Shipping on All Orders in USA !!!

Here are some of the pieces that I have on my wish list ~

This beautiful botton earring has the multicolored florentine design.
I'm partial to the light aqua ones and I can also order them in clip if I choose.

I would love to have one of each of these little darlings.
With their small murano glass bead and swarovski crystal on post,
one can dress up or down and feel elegant.

This would be sure to become one of my favs. Each pendant is hand crafted,
making each piece a work of art and as unique as me.

Venezia Rose/Violet Necklace
Another  hand crafted beauty.
Truly like owning an original piece of art.

I would love this little beauty on my wrist. It would go perfect with the
light aqua florentine earrings I'm dreaming of above.
A  matching necklace and earrings to this bracelet, is also available.

Did you know Murano Glass Jewelery was available? Do you own any?I would love to hear about any Murano Glass pieces you own and their story

(were you lucky enough to get yours at the Factory in Venice?).

  1. I've been to Venice and also toured Murano. Love it! I had a hard time making up my mind on what to buy. I bought several beautiful colorful photo frames. Wish I had bought many many more for gifts. I did not buy any jewelry, but wish I had. A friend went last year and brought me back a gorgeous necklace because I watered her plants while she was away.

    Hugs,

  2. I've been to that island. It was years ago, though. And I didn't know they made jewellery! So pretty.

  3. I too toured Murano in Venice when I was in my late 20's. While I ran around Europe buying t-shirts for Xmas for my entire family, I DID NOT pick up a piece of glass! Oh the folly of the young!

I'm partial to those same earrings as well.

  5. 10 years ago, while on a tour of Murano, visited the Glass Blowers, and saw, from across the room, a necklace / earring combo that was screaming my name. I wear it often -- can be easily dressed up or down, and is one of my favorite pieces ever!

  6. Just beautiful! My poor husband loves this type of art and then leaves me to dust it. He has decided to for go the art for now until he can hire a maid that will not drop it. I just love it especially the auqa amber vase!
    Thanks for sharing the beauty!

  8. What gorgeous jewelry! My husband studied glass blowing in college. A few years ago, we attended a demonstration at his alma mater, conducted by Venetian artist Lino Tagliapietra. It so made me appreciate the art of glass blowing and the enormous impact Italian artists have had on the world of glass blowing. Murano - lendary.

  11. A few years ago, I took a cruise and one of our stops was Venice. We took the tour of this great place. I was appalled at their work and what goes into making it. However, I bought very little. Very, Very pricey.
