If It's Good Enough for Sophia...

That's Sophia Loren, I'm speaking of...
There is no dening that she is one of the most beautiful women in the world!

Sophia at 64

at 71

 at 76
( front row at Giorgio Armani 2011 Spring collection in Paris)

What's her secret to great looking skin?

Would you believe "the odd bath in virgin olive oil " and eating "pasta".. Yes, you read  correctly! So, once in awhile don't be shy, add 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil to your bath water.

As for the pasta, Sophia says " Serve it with a sauce made from tomatoes and unrefined olive oil, with perhaps some shredded carrots added for natural sweetness."  I'll be saying YES, next time Hubby asks "Pasta for dinner tonight?" and I won't be insiting on an alfredo sauce. The homemade tomato sauce will be good enough enough for me ~ after all it's good enough for Sophia!

Why it works...
because it contains omega fatty acids and significant amounts of Vitamin E and Vitamin K, it proves to have excellent hydrating and anti-aging properties. Extra virgin olive oil is worth the extra pennies. While other bottles of olive oil have been chemically processed, extra virgin olive oil is in its purest form with the most health benefits.

  1. She still looks divine...
I love extra virgin olive oil,
I once used it pass some gallstones.
And some say you can also use it as you use a lotion for your skin.

  3. I would LOVE to look like Sophia in my 70s!! I really like the new pastas with more vitamins, Omegas, and fiber...then I do not feel so much like I am cheating on my diet!! I would toss in some onions and garlic with those tomatoes! Good post!!

  7. Well, I'll be buying olive oil by the gallons if I can look like that at 76! I'm sure great genes and good living (no preservatives in those homemade Italian meals) have a lot to do with it, too. Ms. Loren is amazing - great post!

  11. I have always admired Sophia Loren - such a beautiful woman. When using olive oil in my baking and cooking, I always rub it into my hands too. During the winter I sometimes use it as a moisturizer. On the rare occasions I get to take a bath, I do add a few drops to my bath and I have also used it after getting a sunburn. Love olive oil!

    Hugs,
    Tracy

  12. I agree that even without photoshop , she has fabulous bones and a wonderful face .. but she also has serious sun damage on her body and that I believe is one of the worst things that a person can do to their skin. Stay out of the sun.
All the olive oil baths in the world won't help if you tan.
Down here in Suntan land :) they are selling Dove Moisturizer with oil. I just bought some today..the olive oil in the tub sounds a bit hazardous lol.

  28. I have done this and vit. E oil both, they really do both help the skin and are sooooo much less expensive than the bath products on the market. I usually don't care for the taste of warm tomatoes, but when we make our own sauce with a varity of heirloom and cherry tomatoes from our garden its amazing! yummmmm!!!!
