Rekindling the Romance ~ With Yourself- Part 2 of 2

This Valentine's Day why not be YOUR OWN Special Valentine and rekindle the romance that is yours for life ... the Romance with Our Self. Below I'm sharing some of the ways I do this ~ starting with my afternoon tea.

You can read part 1 - This Valentine's be your own Valentine - here.

Setting time aside for tea is one of the ways I romance ME on a daily basis.

~ Make your tea an extra special moment ~

Set a setting like you would if a friend was coming over.
Complete with teapot, tea cup, flowers, a yummy treat (you deserve it - remember all things in moderation is just fine) and touches that say you care.

Treat yourself to a special china teacup set -
one that is just for you to use during your special time.

I do not take sugar with my tea, so I use the sugar bowl as a stand for my tea strainer.

I also like to read inspirational books ~ during my quiet time with myself.

Other ways I keep the Romance going with myself are:

Forgive myself ~ I am learning that as much as we need to forgive others; perhaps the most important person we need to remember to forgive is our self. When things from my youth surface in my thoughts, I acknowledge the lesson(s) learned - and then release the thought back to the past.

Take myself on a date ~ whether it's a movie, restaurant or a special function that I would like to attend, especially when it's something which may not be of interest to Mr. G or friends. I'm my own friend too! So why not take myself?

Being generous with myself ~ if there is something that I really would like for myself, I don't wait for others to buy it for me. I treat myself.

Keeping a journal ~ where I write about all the things I'm grateful for; my hopes and dreams and sometimes just random thoughts.

Nurture - Body, Mind and Spirit

Body ~ eat healthy foods, massage, mani/pedi, up keep grooming (waxing, hair care etc.)
Mind ~ say positive affirmations about self, surround self with positive people
Spirit ~ say a quiet prayer, meditate, walk in nature, hug a tree

How do you keep the Romance in the relationship with Yourself?

Note: the darling little Angel on the gift box and sugar bowl lid are cherished gifts from my dear friend Mariette of Mariette's Back to Basics, who inspires me to live a simple and true life. I often use them in my afternoon tea settings for myself, as a reminder that I am never alone ~ my Angels are always with me.

  1. Beautiful post! I enjoyed reading about how you treat yourself with love and respect. A very very good thing! I am very similar to you, a well laid tea tray, a good book, a quiet corner, and maybe a bit of sunshine....perfect way to show oneself love and care.
Your china is so beautiful, the tea cup the sweetest pink beauty!
    Hugs,
    Terri

  3. Dear Celia,
What a lovely post for Valentine's day! There's nothing more important than taking care of ourselves so we can care for others. I love your list of ideas to treat ourselves well. Your teapot and rose pattern teacup & saucer is beautiful. Thanks for sharing. Wishing you a wonderful week.

  4. Dearest Celia,
WOW, this is a treat for me to read here. It made me so happy to see the angels back, after the long journey (via Miami each time; don't ask the logic of the US Postal Service...) all the way up to Canada. But they belong, one can tell. You also very cleverly used your sugar bowl as a stand for the tea strainer. That is genial; only you could do that as a true tea connoisseur.
Oh, LOVE those padded hearts on the placemat... such a romantic setting. Wish we did not live that far away from each other! We certainly would share some cups of tea; no sugar but it would be the sweetest experience!
    Hugs to you dear friend,
    Mariette

Thank you for the well wishes. I am doing a bit better but now have pleurisy. It is going to take some time to fully recover. Have a wonderful week and blessings always.

  6. I love this. If we wait for someone else to take care of ourselves maybe no one won't we deserve to be loved by our selves every day!

  9. Hello Celia
A delightful post with words of wisdom. Inner peace is found when we love ourselves first and then know we can love others too. Afternoon tea is also my time for reflection.

  10. Hi Celia,
What a lovely post you have shared today. Afternoon tea is a special time set aside to relax and reflect on the blessings in my life, of which there are many. Your tea things are so pretty and what a sweet idea to use the sugar bowl as a stand for the strainer! I don't take sugar in my tea either. I love how we can learn new things from one another. Thank you, my friend, for sharing your beautiful post with us and coming to tea. Hope you're having delightful week.

    Blessings,

  13. Celia, I want to extend my apologies for not knowing sooner that you were the blogging sister I was assigned to. I wrote Mary many times, including the time I changed my email but I know her life is very busy. I loved each and every single one of the beautiful and encouraging details you sent my way in 2012, my dear. Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
    I wish you many blessings.

  16. Beautiful post, Celia!...and so true....the importance of caring first for our own body, mind and spirit. I love how you celebrate life and your idea of setting your tea up as if a friend were coming. I never take time to do these things. I do have a cup of ginger tea every morning and that is my quiet time to prepare for my day.
    xoxo.

  20. What a lovely idea to set the table properly for afternoon tea just as if a friend was visiting (and your china is so pretty!) I'm all for a little pampering too - little things like a mani-pedi or a relaxing Indian head massage really make all the difference.

  23. Such a lovely, lovely post and I SO agree with everything you said and live by those rules myself. After all, who knows us better than we know ourselves, who knows our hopes and dreams our foibles and our weaknesses, our desires and our wishes ... we do. One of my favorite quotes is: "Be careful how you are talking to yourself because you are listening." Thanks for stopping by this week, sweet! I agree, shoes would be perfect for matchboxes! xoxo ~S

  24. Beautiful post! I love your ideas about romancing ourselves. One way I do that is to always slather on perfumed body lotion. It is a small treat I buy for myself. Alpha Hubby loves my soft, scented skin so that is an added bonus! I so agree - taking care of ourselves is the best way to live!

  28. Love the post! For me, I love getting a pedi with my BFF! We both find the time to take a break from our homes, families and just spend an hour being spoiled and pampered!
We found a new place that has a private foot room, quite music - it was sheer bliss!
    Can't wait for your return!
