My Story was published...


I recently submitted my story to Brain Injury Society of Toronto, to be considered as a survivor speaker for their up-coming conference. Imagine my surprise when I was contacted and asked if they could use my inspiring survivor story on ther website ... YES, I did not even have to think about it, if my story can help one person facing transition in their life, I will be better able to be on my road to acceptance of this Detour my life has taken.

    Just read your story Celia and I really liked learning more about you. I've just recently found your blog via Meet Me on Mondays and have added you to my google reader so I can follow your other posts. I can't even imagine what this life change is like and I won't even try to. Next time I'm frustrated with my ability to stay focused I will think of you and "get over" myself. My sister has the issue of forgetting that she put a pot on the stove and she has not suffered a life threatening injury such as yours...so I made her wear a pink, rubber bracelet everytime she put the tea kettle on to remind herself that she put the stove on. Perhaps it could work for you...hopefully ;) Wishing you all the best, Roberta

    Dearest Celia,

    What a beauty you still are and after reading again, (as I knew your story from the blog) your day-by-day challenges I'm more convinced that you must have been a brilliant person before! You still excell and have a knack for writing that is way above the average person - WAY above! You also have more guts than the average for standing up for yourself and for others. Yes, there is a role for you to fulfill in this world and with this publication they underlined that role even more so.
    Lie down and let it sink in... relax and be very PROUD of it and Happy for being able to touch so many other lives. That would never have been possible without that dreadful day...
    You found a true LOVE, someone that cares and will guide you and I pray and hope you will have many more years together and enjoy the rewards from your courage and excellent writing style!

    That was a wonderful article! I posted another blogger's post (with her permission) about her daughter who has apraxia. People can be so mean and say hurtful things when they are too ignorant to know that not all disabilities are visual to someone else. She had a man tell her that she should hang a sign around her daughter's neck so people would know she has a disability.

    I am glad something good is coming out your horrible ordeal. This is great they are publishing your story. At least, it gives others a different view on handling things. It may help you find a little more peace sharing it this way. I have been following you a long for sometime. You are handling things better than you realize. Hang it there. At least, you are alive.

    Wow, so much to think about. It never crossed my mind about the invisibly disabled. Giving up my seat for the elderly or someone with an obvious physical ailment is automatic.     I am at a loss for words here because you have eloquently said it all. Your story is unbelievable, and the fact that you wrote such a lucid account of YOUR LIFE is testimony that there is something DIVINE happening in your life.
