As we all settle in to the various events and festivities paying tribute to Titanic, it's important to remember the lives that were lost on the tragic days of April 14th & 15th 1912.
In the time of Titanic afternoon tea was a grand affair, ladies and gentlemen dressed for afternoon tea. So what better way to pay tribute than with an Afternoon Tea inspired by the menu served on the Titanic. And what more magical place than at Windsor Arms Hotel (Toronto, Canada).
The tribute to Titanic took place in the hotel's grand salon, and it was a full house. Thankfully Mr. G. had made advance reservations, when Windsor Arms announced the Titanic Afternoon Tea.
It was a delight to see people dressed as what you may have seen worn in First Class on the Titanic.
The mustache was priceless, on this guest!!!
and this couple was my favourite ...you gotta love the hat!!! Oh to have lived in that time.
The menu was tres yummy!! and more savory than the regular WA afternoon tea menu.
It also included a cheese plate with aged cheddar, a maple cheddar and stilton cheese; crackers, dried apricots and grapes.
All guests were given a goodie bag ..
Inside was a plate paying tribute to 100th anniversary of the Titanic ...
and a keepsake photo that had been taken of you during tea.
Did you host or attend an event marking Titanic's 100th anniversary?

Tea Party Tuesday ~ with Trish
What a wonderful post! You must have had a wonderful time! I was at a tea today as well...but nor Titanic. An Alice In Wonderland Mad Hatter's tea for a children's charity. I'll report about that next week.

What a lovely way to spend the afternoon! Everything looks wonderful and the costumes are fun! Glad you were able to go and have a great time. No tea for me as I live to far away!
ReplyDeleteWOW that is a lovely looking time what a GREAT event!! A party with this kind of theme would be a GREAT idea!
ReplyDeleteThough it wasn't for a happy cause it seems that it was such a great event!!!!
ReplyDeleteAs per usual your posts is magnificent and I hope you had a great time, enjoying every moment and every little detail, my angel.

Dearest Celia,
ReplyDeleteWould have loved to be there too!
Tuesday evening I have my new modem so now briefly on my iPhone.

Hello Celia,
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful tea! I would have loved to have enjoyed it myself. The cheese plate has my mouth watering. Love the hats, and the goodie bag is tres chic! The Titanic plates are wonderful too; a lovely keepsake.
I wish I could have visited the City while my son was going to U of T but it just didn't work out. He leaves for his post-doc at the Urbana-Champagne University in Illinois in August. Between now and then he will be home for a visit, {he actually arrives at the end of this week} a trip to France, and then teaching until he leaves. A very busy young man!
Thanks so much for sharing your special outing with us and I thank you too for your sweet comment. Hope you have a lovely week, sweet friend.
Blessings and hugs,
Sandi

This looks so amazing! I have always been fascinated with all things Titanic.
ReplyDeleteYour husband is such a gem for setting this up for you.
Hi Celia,
ReplyDeletewhow, that was a nice event. Mr. G. is a thoughtful husband that he reserved places for this special event. It looks really great with all the hats and featherboas and the yummy treats. just as luxury as on the real Titanic. The mustache was really fun and the man looks quite good with it. Thank you for taking us with you.
Best greetings, Johanna
Celia, you lucky gal to be taken to this tea. Expensive too- wow! The food looked scrumptious and you received a nice goody bag.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this Titanic tea tribute at the WA with us.

A peek back into history, something lovely to celebrate the memory of so many. AND how sweet your MR. made the reservations and you spent a tea time together.
