Seasonal Reflecting, Shifting, Refocusing and Giveaway

scroll to bottom of post to Enter give-a-way- good luck everyone!
(give-a-way open world wide)

At the change of seasons I like to sit down with my Satisfaction Blossom and Vision/Inspiration Board. I have been using these two tools for years - they help me to get a snapshot of what areas of my life I'm feeling great about, what areas could use some TLC and a little refreshing on the action steps I need to taking to achieve my goals for the year.
When we were working on the design of the Resilientista Planner I knew these two tools had to be incorporated into it. There are 4 Satisfaction Blossom pages with space for noting action steps and setting intentions for that season. By spreading your action steps and intentions throughout the year - makes it less overwhelming to work towards your yearly goals/dreams.
This year with my Resilientista Planner - adding action steps for my goals/dreams into my calendar has become a lot simpler; as I keep a photo of my 2016 vision/inspiration board (top left photo image) in the My Dreams For This Year section - along with additional inspirational words, images that I add throughout the year.
Setting action steps and intentions that align with my goals/dreams, each month in my planner, makes it super easy to ensure they get added to the weeks ahead. The key to achieving your goals is planning and knowing even small steps add up.

Whether you review your goals/dreams - weekly, monthly, or mid year,

4 questions to ask yourself:

What am I able to check off as achieved?

Am I taking action steps to achieve my goals?

Do remaining goals/dreams still resonate with me?

Are there new goals/dreams that I want to set?

Now to help you get started on adding more self care on the daily, setting action steps to create the life you want, staying organized and having fun too!

A Little Lip Service For a Great Cause & a Give-Away

I was honoured to have been invited to the launch of Pep Talk - a lipstick collaboration between MYNC and Canadian Fashion Designer Hayley Elsaesser in support of Dress for Success Toronto. Dress For Success Toronto is part of the non-profit organization that provides interview suits, confidence boosts, and career development to deserving women in over 139 cities worldwide.
To me lipstick has always held a transformative power. In the early days of recovering post accident and pre-new elbow, my right hand could not touch my face (it would be almost 2 years before I would receive my new elbow). Applying make-up on myself became ancient history - but lipstick, a friend pointed out I could apply with my left hand. And lipstick became my friend. I recall feeling a sense of accomplishment whenever I applied lipstick and the emotional lift I got when I saw my reflection in the mirror. Truly amazing how a little tube of colour for your lips can have so much power. And now it can help the lives of many women in need.

Canadian Fashion Designer Hayley Elsaesser and MYNC Beauty team up to bring you a limited edition lipstick in “Pep Talk” for Toronto Fashion Week, with 100% of proceeds benefiting Dress for Success Toronto. Lipstick available to purchase in store and online.

An Invitation to Dinner and a Give Away!

Our friends R and V frequently travel to Canada from the U.S. , on a recent trip they stayed with us at our countryside home. I invite you along for couple of the simple meals we prepared.

The tablecloth for the week was a lovely cotton blend in the softest blue almost a grey blue with floral pattern varying in from the lightest to darkest shades of  yellow, rose, and green. The bouquet of fresh cut purple tulips lasted the entire week. Each day opening a little more revealing the tulip's grand beauty.

The Denby pasta bowls were paired with a white square plate, with scalloped detail at each corner. The glasses used were an eclectic group from our everyday glassware ~ we do enjoy a glass of wine with dinner and since our friend V is originally from France the champagne flute (and bubbly) was added a few times throughout as an accompaniment to the preparation of dinner. The small tumbler was used for water.

For the pasta meals the curvature of the spoon's handle in this flatware set is perfect for twirling the pasta onto the fork.

A little bubbly to help the cook's ...

and dinner is served. On this particular evening Mr. G was the Chef preparing his signature meal Spaghetti (the long style...)  with a Tuscan olive and tomato sauce, paired with veal, Caprese salad and of course a Calabrese baguette. Now That's Italian!!!

During one of the evenings of relaxing ... We sampled some cupcakes from a new bakery that opened a couple of weeks ago, in the town close to our home. They were delish ~ we sampled chocolate, red velvet and vanilla. The small liquor glasses were used, as we were also trying Bartenura a dessert wine made in Italy from the Moscato grape, for the first time. We discovered  it is not as syrupy-honey sweet as Ice-wine ~ and could have really used proper wine glasses.

This dessert wine would be great with cheese as well.

Along with the rich pasta dishes we made throughout the week, we did sneak in some healthy ones.  This particular meal we (Mr. G and R) grilled on the BBQ some tender organic steaks V and R purchased at a Butcher, R was familiar with in a near by city. A leafy lettuce, Romano tomatoes, grilled veggies, olives and red onion along with EVO and balsamic vinegar were served individually, allowing each person to customize a salad to their pallet's desire. Small white potatoes and Yams were also done on the grill. A very healthy meal ...

Ok... so we had some cheese cake dessert ... but look at how tiny each is ... some may have indulged in more than one ...

During their visit our friends rolled up their sleeves and put on gloves to give our gardens and trees some much needed TLC ... you can see them in action HERE.

In appreciation to everyone who continued to visit and send emails (know that your words of encouragement brought hope to my grey days), during my sporadic blogging these past few weeks, I am hosting a wonderful giveaway, for a Gardener's Petite Box

Inside: a pair of  The Handy Gardener gardening gloves dipped in nitrile, perfect for protecting your hands and finger nails while you tend to your garden; a Treasury by Shaby Chic journal and pen to perfect for tracking what was planted, when and where or for writing some personal thoughts after an afternoon in the garden; a tube of Gardeners intensive therapy hand cream with Shea Butter, by Upper Canada; and what better way to sit back and relax after a day in the garden, but with a cup of tea ... some spring rain blooming tea from Teaopia. The shipping box is perfect for storing your journal and pen or keeping seed packets organized.

A Nutcracker Christmas ~ and ~ Christmas GIVE AWAY

We have been working hard at the HHL country home, getting ready for Christmas and the celebrations of the season. This year is the first Christmas in 5 years that I am looking forward to. With my love of ballet and memories of going to see the Nutcracker Ballet on my birthday... The Nutcracker theme was perfect for our home.

Trying to bring some tradition back into the celebration of Christmas, we choose to not add the Angel to the top of tree during Advent. Instead on Christmas eve we will set the Angel in place at the top of the tree and light it's candles.

A pretty ballerina dances about....

ballet slippers ...

Clara and her Nutcracker gift ...

Christmas horse....

The Mouse King

Our guests are greeted by a nature scene inspired from our property..

Little Dolce, checking out the gifts under the tree... woofing that some be for him...

This is a special Nativity that is dear to Mr. G's heart and we place out each year.

Notice the crèche is empty ... it will remain empty until midnight Christmas eve...
The reason for Christmas celebration!!!

Since the Christmas season is for giving ... What better time

 to host a GIVE AWAY!!

When I hosted a Girls Christmas Tea last month, this was one of the prizes a lucky guest won!
When purchasing it, I decided that my Blog Friends should also have an opportunity to win a teacup and saucer set.. so of course an extra was purchased and set aside for this give away!

This is a ROYAL ALBERT teacup and saucer...

I love the details ... the gold rim edges, the flower bouquet that greets you as you bring the teacup to to your lips.

The detail on the saucer is magnificent!

The pattern is LADY CARLYLE....
