A Cup of Tea and a Facial mask - 30 minutes for you ...

Welcome to tea and the first in a 6 part series of wonderful things you can do while enjoying a calming and relaxing cup of tea. You are worth 30 minutes in your day!

While your tea is steeping in a teapot ...

Apply facial mask to cleansed skin...

Whether you use a ready to go facial mask from the drugstore or create your own. A facial mask can be beneficial for your skin, as well as your mind and spirit when you enjoy it with a cup of tea to relax the mind and sooth the soul.

Once you have finished applying your facial mask, and poured your self a cup of tea...
It's time to kick back in a quiet place to let your mask set, while the warmth
and scent of your tea envelope your senses.
I sometimes prop up pillows on my bed - lay back , relax , enjoying my cup of tea - as the facial mask sets.

Other times I sit looking out to the gardens while my facial mask sets,
enjoying my cup of tea for 15 minutes or so.

What is important in deciding on a place to enjoy YOUR time is that it enables you to be fully present in your facial mask experience ~ with no distractions.

I so enjoy using this teacup, the bottom of the cup has painted in gold - Thun - Karlovarsky Porcelan , Czech Republic - Original Kobalt with a crown also painted in gold and the date 1794. I purchased this set some time back at an antique shop.

Here are some home-made facial masks that I enjoy:

Lemon and Honey

Mix a few drops of lemon juice with a good size scoop (about a tablespoon) of raw honey - making enough to cover your face.

Apply mixture to cleansed face with your finger tips in an upward motion. Leave on for 10-15 minutes. Rinse  off with tepid water and pat dry. Your skin will feel refreshed and with continued use (1-2 times a week) you  should start to notice a difference - your skin's feel and appearance will be more healthy.

Marie Antoinette's Honey Facial Mask

2 egg yolks
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/4 cup  honey, warmed in the microwave

Combine all ingredients until well blended. Gently rub honey mask onto dry, cleansed skin. Let settle for 10-15 minutes and rinse off with tepid water. Or for an extra special facial treatment, dampen a towel (make sure to ring out completely). Microwave the damp towel on high for a minute or two until it is warm and steamy. Place the towel over your face and enjoy ! (about 5 minutes)

Tips to help you enjoy these precious relaxing 30 minutes:

Set a timer so that you are fully enjoying this time and not worrying about checking the time.

Let others in the home know you are on YOUR 30 minute escape; turn off ALL technical devices ~ seriously you can do it, and the world will not come to an end. It's amazing how refreshing these few minutes can be when you allow yourself to be in the moment.

Do you take time for your self each day

See you next Tuesday for another cup-of-tea and 30 minutes for you activity.

In Memory of an Angel ...

6 years ago today ... An Angel's human experience came to an end.
With her work here on earth complete, it was time to return home
and on this day May 28th, 2007 her journey home began.

By the 29th, of May 2007, Angel P*. was home.

Our paths never crossed during her time here on earth.
Though I know on a soul level we must have known each other,
for she entrusted into my care the one person who was her everything.

Angel P. we feel your love and presence.
Thank you for being an Angel in our lives.

* Angel P. was Mr. G's first wife, whose young human life came to an end after a car crash on May 28th,  2007. She lives on in his memory and through him, I am blessed to have  another Angel looking out for me.

Keukenhof Gardens - Holland

During our recent trip to the Netherlands in celebration of Mr. G's birthday, we took a tour to the Keukenhof gardens. This is the largest bulb-flower park in the world. As you will note by the above sign, the gardens are only open to visitors from March 21st - May 20th. This is definitely something to add to your anticipation list (see post on anticipation here), here you will find no less than 4.5 million tulips in 100 varieties. Have I captured your attention?

Here I try on some shoes that are not high heels ...

 There are beautiful water features...

Daffodils ...
The Maxima Lutea, captured my attention ...

Everywhere you look, you will find inspiration
for creating your own gardens and planters...

These are just breath taking, wouldn't you agree?

The combination of colour , brilliant!

They say a photo is worth a thousand words...
There was an absolute abundance of flowers named in honour of some most deserving people...
Pink and yellow...

It was a precious moment to observe these small tots enjoying the beauty of Mother Nature ...

Have you been to Keukenhof ?
We only managed to see a small portion of the gardens, so a return trip is on the HHL Anticipation List

Let's Travel, shall we ...

With the promise of sun filled weather "just around the corner" as the weatherman keeps promising. Though we arrived home to pretty much the weather we experienced for a week in the Netherlands ... RAIN and dampness ... not a good combination for someone who has had multiple bone fractures. Nevertheless, traveling to foreign places was one of my favourite things to do and I plan to do a lot more of it the months and years ahead.

How fabulous it would be if we could all travel via private jet? Where you step out of the car and only need to walk steps - not miles across an airport terminal, from check-in to boarding - and the only luggage you concern yourself with is the gorgeous handbag dangling from your arm. Oh the wonderful stylish outfits we could dress in to arrive perfectly fresh and stylish looking at our destination.

Alas this is not the "norm" for most of us ... not for moi, anyways. But ladies you can still travel in style. Leave your Lulu Lemons at home, and the bulky sweat shirts, and the flip flops (I couldn't believe what women were wearing at the airport on our trip to the Netherlands, last week)! Here are a couple of ways to wear jeans, or khakis and still look stylish.

Wedges can be just as comfortable as a flat shoe, and for petite (vertically challenged such as moi) ladies give us some height and make our legs look longer and slimmer. I do take a pair of slip on slippers for the actual flight (in a future post, I will share what I pack in my carry on).

What is your tip to looking stylish while travelling ?
