Somethings Gotta Give ...

Life has become a series of fragments for me. When I started this blog it was to share my journey of healing post accident. Along the way it became a place to escape to. And the last year or so it's become a bit directionless - looking back I suppose it has been a reflection of how I have been feeling within my own life - without focus.

This sense of what next is a mixture of my healing, wanting  needing to come out of  the cocoon which I've been in too long and spreading my wings; and those around me who don't want/can't handle the woman I'm becoming - Independent with her own voice. They say "I've Changed" - will I guess they are right ... it takes time to fully (if one ever does) grasp that they died - and by God's good grace are still here. When this realization happens ... a change(s) is sure to occur. And what I may have accepted during this time of healing is no longer what is for my highest good or acceptable to me.

Somethings Gotta Give .....

So I've decided it's time to step back a little from blogging ...

I'm going to be taking a much needed break for the month of August with hopes it will help me figure out what next not only for this little blog but for my life too!!!

Thank you for all the love and support my long time and new readers have given me through blog visits, comments and emails to check in on me and encourage me. Your thoughtfulness and kindness has made a difference in my life - you have often been the sunshine on my cloudy days.

Heels and a Cup of Tea

Hi everyone, welcome to tea this week. Not only do I have a lovely teacup to share with you , I have a fabulous creative and most talented artist to share with you.

A while back I entered a fabulous giveaway hosted by dear friend Susan founder/writer of Ava Grace's Closet. If you have not yet discovered Susan's corner of BlogLand - let me tell you you are missing some cuteness - Miss Ava is such a darling; great fashion and some fabulous giveaways! The giveaway a book ... not just any book a shoe book!! Look how beautiful it was wrapped...

Wonderfully written and illustrated by Clare Grove.  I can't wait to share this book with our Goddaughter and my with my little niece when we visit together next.

As you can see Clare definitely loves shoes ... and she is a mummy of three so the book title 
Mummy Loves Shoes is brilliant!

Well if the book was not surprise enough to have been the winner ... Susan shared these beautiful cards with me. These are part of the Mummy Loves stationary range THAT IS YET TO BE RELEASED!!

Now for teacup I'm sharing today .... it's she lovely! A beautiful green canvas with golden floral decor.

and the handle ... how gorgeous? in gold with a swirl thumb rest. This teacup is so delicate the light shining in from window captures the gold of the flowers reflection. Loving the single gold stripe around the teacup and the golden pedestal. Do you know who this lovely is by?

Here it is ... stamped on the bottom of the teacup... even the teacup's pedestal looks like a floral bloom.

Dolce and Gabbana sat patiently and quietly during our tea today ...

Alice in Wonderland travels into APP world

Alice in Wonderland has been captivating both the young and young at heart for over 150 years and is one of the most popular and beloved stories in modern literature. It was one of my favourites growing up and I have been known to pop in the movie version with Johnny Depp a couple of times or more. Imagine my excitement when I discovered this iconic story had traveled into the APP World!! Of course I had to give a try.

I was instantly captivated by the ease of this APP the instructions tab ensures that you become aware of all the magic that awaits you. You are also given the option of having the story narrated as you flip each page or to read it yourself. The green velvet book mark makes it easy to pick up where you left off. 

Unlike a print or movie version of Alice in Wonderland the APP version is interactive - riddles, puzzles and beautiful artwork keep readers engaged. It's a brilliant way to help young ones (and some adults too!) improve literacy skills; stimulate creativity, and be introduced to the world of art.

A few strokes on your screen and you can add to the imagery ...

Slide your finger across the screen and voila you discover a little magic...

This game had me hooked ... I did manage to score a point!

The mastermind behind this spectacular APP is Emmanuel Paletz -  an international award-winning creative consultant for the advertising industry, working for the country's leading digital and direct marketing agencies. He is also the author of two very successful cookbooks, both of which have been lavished with praise and awards.

If you have not yet discovered The Alice APP I highly suggest it. Either for yourself (take a trip down the Rabbit Hole of your childhood) or a gift for a young person in your life. At the end of the App you can learn about each art piece - see where it came from and learn about its history. I can't wait to share this form of Alice in Wonderland with our God daughter - who is 9 years old.

Angels of Abundance

Doreen Virtue’s books on the angelic realm have been a great resource for me since I started my journey of connecting with my angels in 2008. I was recently given the opportunity through Hay House Publishing to review Doreen’s newest book Angels of Abundance , which she co-authored with her son Grant Virtue.

   

As with most of Doreen's books - this one came to me at a time that I needed to be reminded that I'm not alone on my journey – that my angels are there to help and guide me, I just need to call them (and allow myself to receive their response).

When I have reviewed books for Hay House in the past I received a hard cover book. This time it arrived in the form of an e-book. Can you say the angels were signalling that I was in need of many reminders ASAP.  As I clicked my way through the pages I was reminded not to give up, to keep working hard towards my dreams and most important to pay attention to the signs that the angels give in response to my requests. 

In this book Doreen and Grant provide answers to questions about creating affirmations and how long one needs to do affirmations. Interesting - about a week after reading this book I was asked if I would be interested in conducting a workshop about affirmations. Not only was the workshop's theme perfect - it (workshops) was something that I have been hoping to branch my business in healing into. There really are no coincidences - and if you are reading this review, there is a reason why this book - Angels of Abundance - is being brought to your attention.

This book is an easy read, wonderfully inspiring and informative for anyone who is seeking a quick read on how to manifest an abundant life. And a wonderful reminder for anyone who needs a little nudge from the universe that asking is only part of the manifesting process - action and faith are also required.

Garden in the Country -Over a Cup of Tea

Welcome dear friends, regular readers and new readers of HHL! It's been a whirlwind of activity for me this spring/summer ...trying to keep up with our gardens in the country while trying to manage the organizing of our home in the city.
If we were sitting down over tea today ... I would show you photos of the gardens a couple weeks ago..

The peony were as lovely - if not the loveliest this year ...and were a wonderful surprise to arrive at the country home to.

Of course the lilies and hostas were looking quite grande as well ...

and my beautiful roses ...oh they were showing wonderful green foliage and a magnitude of buds!!! As we left for the city after this visit I was excited that the following week we would return to a symphony of roses ....

For our tea today I'm serving a freshly baked croissant, and some juicy watermelon...

for the croissant there is also some rose jam from France ...

Today we are enjoying our tea ( by tealish) in this fine bone Royal Albert casual tea cup. I think its yellow background and floral motif is perfect as we are talking gardens.

Now that we are all set with cup of tea in hand and some treats ... lets get back to the country gardens ..fast forward a week...

On my return to the country gardens the following week I could see the lavender was coming into its own!

Can't wait to bunch some up and tie it with ribbon...

the butterfly garden ...starting to show pops of colour ...

As I made my way through the rose gardens ... I was greeted by these beauties....

 As I took a closer look at my beauties ... something  was definitely not RIGHT!

Where were all the blooms I had anticipated?  A good majority of the rose bushes looked beyond naked with leafless branches.

Closer look ... I was devastated to discover these .... I've heard about them , but thankfully had never had them strike my gardens. 

But along with the picked naked branches where there should have been beautiful rose blooms... were stubby remains ... like something had debudded  them... was it possible that these green worm like thieves ate the buds too? The mystery began ...

back inside ...Gabbana would not leave the window ...I quick look did not reveal her chipmunk friend that taunts her ( I think on purpose) nibbling away on a nut ...but she was persistent ..and Dolce then joined in on the stack out... a closer look revealed ... 

This little cute darling ....

But a glance out to gardens ... also revealed there was a bunny party going on in the rose garden...

YES .. THREE more bunnies were frolicking about in my roses .... could they be the ones eating the rose buds? and to add to the mystery our maintenance guy informed us that he had spotted deer in the gardens on a couple of visits.  So, I'm not sure who the rose bud thieves really are ... perhaps all (green worms, bunnies and deer) ...the mystery remains.

Have you had your roses attacked by any of these? What did you use to protect your roses and prevent further damage...

Oh and in case you were wondering ... there is nothing quite as luxurious as rose jam on freshly baked croissants..
