I have been wanting to try La Société for some time and this past weekend
Mr. G. treated me to a birthday dinner there.
La Société is tucked in on the second floor of the Colonnade ...right in the heart of mink mile. From the decor, the massive stained glass ceiling and
lively ambiance you feel like you've just stepped into a restaurant in Paris.
LOVE this saying!!!
The menu was overflowing with tempting delights ... it was hard to choose ...But we managed ... ;)
Mussels
East coast mussels, fennel, cider, fresh herbs and grilled bread
These beauties were tres delish! the sauce was so flavourful ... that had I not ordered a steak for my main I would have definitely asked for more bread and soaked up each drop.
Waldorf Salad Baby gem, grapes, celery, walnuts and blue cheese
Chicken Suprême
Gnocchi, squash, sage and brown butter vinaigrette
Mr. G. thoroughly enjoyed every bite of his main ...
Steak Frites
Demi glace and pommes frites 6 oz fillet
Though my steak could have been cooked a little less (I'm a medium rare - kinda gal, it was a tad more on the medium) - the demi glace was divine! and over all I was happy with my choice.
The meal was good and though we both passed on dessert - they had some wonderful selections and definitely a reason to return - along with some of the other dishes on the menu. The staff was attentive, friendly and we had a wonderful waiter. Check out the full menu HERE.
As we were leaving we noticed a bar area .. that looked inviting for cocktails after a long day at the office or a social outing with friends.
Cheers to another birthday !
La Société is steps away from the Village of Yorkville Park. Despite the huge dumping of snow and freezing temperatures for two days in Toronto, Saturday evening was unexpectedly pleasant ...
and perfect for an after dinner stroll.
La Société is located at 131 Bloor Street West Toronto, M5S 1R1 tel:(416) 551 9929 or visit their website: HERE .

Le sigh. BIG HUGE SIGH. Everything looks amazingly delicious - but honestly? It's the snow on the ground that caught my heart. I miss snow so much. We get it here occasionally but not enough to depend on it yearly. Of course people here don't know how to drive in 1" plain ordinary snow (i.e., no ice first) that it's kind of dangerous to be out and about with them. I do miss it, tho, because it just doesn't seem like Christmas without it. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU AND MR. G!
ReplyDeleteDearest Celia,
ReplyDeleteThat menu really looks rather French and it would be delicious for savoring a meal there or even for having some dessert and a bubbly afterwards... So happy you got to celebrate your Birthday well this year.
Sending you both our love and wishing you a Merry Christmas!
