I'm so happy you stopped by for tea today. Today's tea is a very special tea, as it is a tea that was created by friends.
This lovely tea cup was sent to me from my dear blogging friend Nan. I love the delicate swirl of the handle and it shows that it has been loved over many teas. And the colourful floral is perfect for welcoming spring. There are no markings on the bottom of cup or saucer ... so I'll call it my friendship cup - Nan.
While in Paris with my dear friend Elizabeth in 2011, she introduced me to The Mariage and of course since they are the oldest tea producers in France ~ I needed to learn more. This book has been a wonderful read, many times over.
Look at how darling the footing of the teacup is ....
Where there is tea ... a treat or two usually follows and this little Limoges dessert dish from France is perfect ... especially for the goodies that will be served with today's tea.
Voila! Elizabeth, had a friend of hers bring back some most delectable treats for moi, from a trip to France. And surprised me with a knock on my door one morning ~ to present this precious bag.
Inside .... a beautiful rainbow of MARCARONS ... brought from France - just for moi!! but that is not all this bag contained...
An extra treat of tea from The Mariage ... Marco Polo and this surprise contained even more ...
You see ... my sister-in-love's father passed away while on a cruise with his wife. My sister-in-law is pregnant with twins and this was a most stressful time for our family these past couple of weeks. Being 4 plus hours away from my family means there is much planning for a trip home .. but in an emergency the luxury of time does not exist.
The gift that accompanied Elizabeth's visit was the hug she gave me. It was exactly what I needed a caring hug from a dear friend, to help me get on my way to my family.
Angels and friends are blessings from heaven ... treasure them!
Have you had a friend visit or send a letter/card, or call unexpectedly and realize that was exactly what you needed at that moment?

Yes, I have had this happen...somehow one just knows and it is so perfect. I miss those macaroons! They are delicious. The tea cup is very lovely. What a kind and thoughtful friend. I am sorry to hear about your SIL's father! That is so sad. I wish their entire family support and healing during this time of grief.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you got a warm loving hug too : )

So sorry to hear of your sister in law's loss. I'm sure it hurts you to be far from your family at a time like this.
ReplyDeleteYes, I got that unexpected 'hug' I needed from my parents, who are also our friends. They've ordered a book for me to read, so I could get away from all the stresses life has been throwing our way, at least for just awhile. sweet.
glad you friends were there for you too Celia.
Dearest Celia,
ReplyDeleteLOVELY and very meaningful post!
So sorry for your Sister-in-law at this stage of her pregnancy for having to deal with such an emotion as grief. Life comes at us very unexpected and yes, those angel friends that give us wings at times we're too heavy to take off on our own are a BLESSING!
So are you as one of my latest received handwritten notes came from you my dear friend. Thanks again; it meant so much to me!
Wishing you some quiet and happy times in the country with the fur babies together.
Hugs,
Mariette
I am sure that it is due to my friends that I am the person I am today, and because of their love and care I strive to better myself. My friends are my backbone. So happy to hear you have great caring friends too! Patty/BC

What a thoughtful friend! The teacup is particularly pretty with the unusual handle and Ladurée macarons are the perfect treat. The words about friends are beautiful and true.
