Welcome to tea and the first in a 6 part series of wonderful things you can do while enjoying a calming and relaxing cup of tea. You are worth 30 minutes in your day!
While your tea is steeping in a teapot ...
Apply facial mask to cleansed skin...
Whether you use a ready to go facial mask from the drugstore or create your own. A facial mask can be beneficial for your skin, as well as your mind and spirit when you enjoy it with a cup of tea to relax the mind and sooth the soul.
Once you have finished applying your facial mask, and poured your self a cup of tea...
It's time to kick back in a quiet place to let your mask set, while the warmth
and scent of your tea envelope your senses.
I sometimes prop up pillows on my bed - lay back , relax , enjoying my cup of tea - as the facial mask sets.
Other times I sit looking out to the gardens while my facial mask sets,
enjoying my cup of tea for 15 minutes or so.
What is important in deciding on a place to enjoy YOUR time is that it enables you to be fully present in your facial mask experience ~ with no distractions.
I so enjoy using this teacup, the bottom of the cup has painted in gold - Thun - Karlovarsky Porcelan , Czech Republic - Original Kobalt with a crown also painted in gold and the date 1794. I purchased this set some time back at an antique shop.
Here are some home-made facial masks that I enjoy:
Lemon and Honey
Mix a few drops of lemon juice with a good size scoop (about a tablespoon) of raw honey - making enough to cover your face.
Apply mixture to cleansed face with your finger tips in an upward motion. Leave on for 10-15 minutes. Rinse off with tepid water and pat dry. Your skin will feel refreshed and with continued use (1-2 times a week) you should start to notice a difference - your skin's feel and appearance will be more healthy.
Marie Antoinette's Honey Facial Mask
2 egg yolks
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/4 cup honey, warmed in the microwave
Combine all ingredients until well blended. Gently rub honey mask onto dry, cleansed skin. Let settle for 10-15 minutes and rinse off with tepid water. Or for an extra special facial treatment, dampen a towel (make sure to ring out completely). Microwave the damp towel on high for a minute or two until it is warm and steamy. Place the towel over your face and enjoy ! (about 5 minutes)
Tips to help you enjoy these precious relaxing 30 minutes:
Set a timer so that you are fully enjoying this time and not worrying about checking the time.
Let others in the home know you are on YOUR 30 minute escape; turn off ALL technical devices ~ seriously you can do it, and the world will not come to an end. It's amazing how refreshing these few minutes can be when you allow yourself to be in the moment.

Do you take time for your self each day
See you next Tuesday for another cup-of-tea and 30 minutes for you activity.

ReplyDeleteCelia, fun post. We really do need to remind ourselves to slow down and give ourselves a treat. After all, we are all special! I think a facial mask and a cup of tea sound brilliant! Love the teacup. Happy Tea Day!
ReplyDeleteDearest Celia,
ReplyDeleteThis is a lovely idea for converting our own home into a luxury SPA!
Hugs to you,
Mariette
Hi Celia,
ReplyDeleteHaving studied Cosmetology, I know how important and relaxing a facial can be. You have some wonderful recipes and tips; thanks for sharing them. Your teacup is so very pretty! So happy you have joined me for tea this week. Have a beautiful day, my friend.

A lovely post Celia, so many things one can do while relaxing with tea - a facial I've not thought about. I like to treat myself in spring and fall to a deep cleansing facial at our local spa; unfortunately they don't serve tea afterwards.

Hello Celia,
ReplyDeleteWhat a great series you have begun! I haven't had a facial in 10 years. I think I am due one : ) Your recipes look fab, thanks so much for sharing your gorgeous post about tea and treating ones self well.

That's all such good advice - I look forward to the next installments of this series.
ReplyDeleteBonjour mon ami! What a lovely post as always and perfect timing. I am looking forward to a summer of relaxation and pampering.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a most beautiful weekend!! xoxo, B
This was a perfect post plus recipes!! I can't wait to try them plus I just received a new Chanel moisturizing mask. It's very rainy this morning so today is going to be a perfect one to relax, enjoy my tea and do the mask! As usual, your tea blog set the tone for my day - relaxed and blessed!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a GLORIOUS surprise to see your comment tonight and such a warm welcome to your blog here my dear! How I agree so much with your suggestion to take tea and a mask, TOGETHER! And both moments must be taken in the QUIET. No rushing for tea, ever - and a facial is meant to relax not just the skin, but the mind. I am going to go make myself some tea, NOW!
ReplyDeleteIt was really great of you to come and visit my post. I have not posted my home in a very long time, and I could go on and on, but there are so many things to learn about photography and capturing not just a room, but an essence; I have not learned that yet, but hope to soon!
Be well! How are you?
I hope you are enjoying as beautiful of a spring as we are; much rain, but the green is invigorating! LOVE! Anita
That's a perfect idea! I'll do this later this week - I do appreciate you sharing with A Return to Loveliness,
ReplyDeleteKathy
Here's something else I never do enough of!
