Hello ~ I'm Making My Way Back...

Hello Lovelies:

I know it's been a while since I last posted here and visited many of you, thank you for all the emails and PM asking how I was doing -  know I'm slowly working my way back. There have been lots of changes happening all around me; some by choice, others not so much. In the midst of the chaos I launched the Resilientista Magazine (which I'll share more about on it's own future post); and my calendar has been filled with lots of community service, and taking care of my health & wellness.

As I reviewed all that was on my desk, I realized that I was in need of some serious streamlining for my well being, so I started to look at ways to do this. Writing two blogs was really overwhelming and so I have decided to only blog here. And will be restructuring Resilientista to better reflect the direction it is taking, which will no longer include a blog section. But don't worry lovelies, it is remaining self care , self love, and creating the life you want to be living in the next chapter of  your life -  focused. It will also be highlighting some extraordinary women who are passionate about helping women live their best life - can't wait to share all the fabulousness with you!!

Since I will be a little wrapped up finalizing the restructuring of Resilientista over the next couple of months, I'm sharing below some of the most popular posts from Resilientista Musings, you may not have seen or perhaps would enjoy reading again.

I'm looking forward to being back to the blogging world very soon.

Life 10 Years After Trauma - Taking Back My LIFE!!

October 28th, at 8:30 p.m. (give or take a few minutes) it will be 10 years since I was literally knocked off my high heeled life. If you are a new reader - you can read about my accident here and here. Reflecting back I have to say this past decade has been the most difficult time of my life. It began with tradegy; in between lots of ups and downs - the reset button pushed more times than I like to admit; and  has ended with a sadness and emptiness that I could never have imagined was possible.

Oct/Nov - 2006
As the week leading up to the anniversary of the day everything changed in my life approached, I became acutely aware while the accident stole many facets of my life, self and dreams, it has also given me experiences - that I may not otherwise have had. All of of  my experiences Pre- and Post - accident have brought me to the beginning of the next chapter of my life. I'm alive and thriving (some days more than others), but, what I have learned in the last 10 years is : if we are not happy with how our life is going - we have the power to create a life and self that we want.

Sept. 2016

For those who may be going through a challenging time I leave you with some quotes from some amazing women ... that I read often to remind me that any thing is possible - and it's up to me to create the self and life I want be and live.

With this post I'm closing a chapter ....
and beginning a new one ... that I'm calling the Resilientista Years.
I hope you will join me on this next chapter, where I hope to continue to inspire you to live your version of a High Heeled Life (aka best life)

You are the curator of your life so make it luxurious,

Week-end Inspiration ~ Journaling

Like most people I have kept a journal on and off since my teenage years. Sadly for one reason or another these journals have ended up in the fire pit or shredder over the years. Recently I came across an article on the Oprah website - An Exclusive Look at Oprah's Journals that has inspired me to think about the importance of putting pen to paper not only as a way to release my thoughts, but to also capture my life's story and in a way create a book of memories.
After forgiving myself for having discarded the journals of yesteryear - after all there is no point in dwelling on something that cannot be undone - so forward I go. I started journaling again a couple of months ago and there is certainly something magical about seeing your thoughts written by your hand on paper. Writing my thoughts has also been instrumental in releasing negative emotions that may have been holding me back from freely moving forward. I'm also starting to see patterns, changes and shifts in my life - enabling me to make better choices that are inline with what I want in my life and who I am at my core.

How I write...
5 tips I hope will inspire you to start or get back into journaling:
1. I write at the end of my day, when the the house in quiet, the dogs have been let out for their final evening business and I will not be disturbed. Often half hour to an hour before I'm ready to go to bed. This is also great for disconnecting from technology gadgets before bed - thus relaxing the mind.
2. I aim to write for at least 20 minutes each evening.
3. I write for myself NOT censoring what goes down allowing my emotions to release freely.
4. I don't worry about grammar or spelling. I'm journaling for me and no one else.
5. I write not only about what is happening in my life - I use my journal to write about the dreams I have for my life and the things I am grateful for.

If you are a long time reader of HHL you will already know that I am a believer in the power of our thoughts. Think of journaling as a gift to yourself - a place where you are able to release negative thoughts, making room for positive ones. A journal will become your personal reference on how you have lived your life. It will empower you to build upon what you have already created or to make changes for self growth which are inline with the life you are dreaming of.

Would love to hear about your experiences with journaling ~
what worked for you, how long you have been journaling? etc.

After The Winter & Rain in a Garden and Life ...

Sometimes life can happen when we are busy making plans, leaving us totally depleted of energy, drive, ambition, security/stability, even sometimes good health.

As I was walking through our gardens today I was reminded of the lessons in strength we can learn from nature. Take the Peony Garden ~ it grows back stronger and stronger each year - despite being knocked down to nothing each winter.

Much like the peony, after we experience a life changing event (be it big or small;  it's a change). We need to nurture our self. Remember it's ok to withdraw inwards ... just don't stay there. Start poking your head outside.

Eventually your winter will start to become a memory and you will start to gain legs and stand upright. Just like the Peony garden in spring.

Like the Peony Garden ... we have many facets to our life, which make us whole. We are child, sibling, parent, student, employer, employee, spouse/partner, teacher, friend, etc. Sometimes even when only one facet has been hurt/affected by the change that occurred in our life, we instinctively keep all other facets closed tight.

But if we can manage to find at least one facet of our self that we can nurture and allow to flourish...
Then BOOM! before we know it like a garden of Peony after a rain fall ~ our life is in full bloom! Each facet  stronger than before.

It's as if you take all the rain and drink a long thirst quenching "I've had enough and I'm going to THRIVE"... and shed away all the winter darkness.

and shine my many brilliant colours ...
And of course once you are happy and thriving you are able to bring happiness to others.
People cannot help but smile back if you smile at them...

Life is never going to be the same after something that has caused you pain and some times even love. But the beauty is that just like the Peony Garden, after the winter of life - You have the power to rise and CREATE the life you want.
