A Little About the girl behind High Heeled Life ...(moi)

I really am humbled when my little corner of BlogLand is recognized by a fellow BlogLand friend. Though I usually decline to participate (it can become most time consuming to do all the things that is sometimes required in accepting an award). But, this one provided the opportunity to share with readers a little something about me that they may not already know (especially if they are new readers). So thank you Jessica for awarding High Heeled Life the Very Inspiring Blogger award.

If you have not been over to The Entertaining House, what are you waiting for? Jessica is a brilliant writer and photographer; successful entrepreneur and loving mother. You can learned a little more about Jessica Here.

Now,  7 things you may not already know about me:

1)  One of my favourite movies is Under the Tuscan Sun ... I can (and have) watched this movie many times. I love the underlying message. That we all get exactly what we ask for - perhaps not in the way we "want" or expected it , but in the the way we need it and when we are ready. I love this clip! Under The Tuscan Sun - Ladybugs - clip.

2) As much as I love living in North America, I hope to one day return to living in Europe if not full-time , at least for a few months out of the year, living in the countryside. My choices - in no particular order France, Italy, Portugal.

3) I traveled to Thailand, Hong Kong, Macau and Seoul Korea with friends in my mid twenties. I was never interested in visiting Asia - but when my friends (whose parents live in Hong Kong) suggested I join them, it was an opportunity to see countries I otherwise would not have seen. So happy that I went, it was a fabulous trip!

4) Despite spending summers close to some of the best beaches in the world (Algarve), during my childhood, I have not learned to swim.

5) I have an artificial right elbow. ~  I was not able to touch my face with my right hand for almost 1 1/2 years after my accident. The elbow had been completely shattered and was fused in a handshake position. I went through horrific pain as Rehab Therapists tried (without success) to get movement from it. When I was finally able to see the specialist - he was amused that anyone had tried as it was FUSED - there was nothing there - it had been shattered beyond repair.

The specialist further informed me that I would never have use of my elbow again. When I inquired about a replacement elbow ... he informed me I was too young to be considered. Long story short he referred me to a colleague at Sunnybrook , who agreed to do the replacement. I still do not have full use of my elbow/arm, nor pronation or supination (turning of wrist and forearm) on the right arm  due to numerous plates and screws required to repair the multiple breaks in the forearm.

You will find a post here on my elbow.

6) I am outgoing and friendly but very much an introvert too! This is a huge departure from my High Heeled Life days in the city when outgoing, friendly, adventurous, social - very much an extrovert would have described me. I have always been comfortable with my own company - but these I prefer it so much more.

7) I Can't change the past .... I don't Know if tomorrow will come .... I live for the moments that make up today!

There you have it ... a little about me, you may not have known.

Now I will pass the key board to all High Heeled Life readers who may wish to share a little about themselves.

If you decide to share, please feel free to grab the above award. And if you do, drop me an email (fallingoffahighheeledlife@gmail.com) with the link to your post and I will be happy to add it here.

Jessica, thank you. You are one of the most inspiring ladies I have had the pleasure of getting to know in BlogLand. I always look forward to reading your posts.

These fabulous people are also sharing a little about themselves ~ pop on over for a visit and perhaps make a new BlogLand friend.

I've been Tagged and Awarded

Being tagged or given an award in Blogland is always humbling to me. But sometimes [as many of you will agree] answering the questions and passing it along [knowing how busy everyone is] as part of the acceptance is overwhelming. You want to show your appreciation but the hours in the day are not enough; you thank the person- and set the questions aside - intending to get to them ... then it disappears into the pile of computer files... surfacing months later, giving you  a red tomato shade on your face "How could I have let that slip (forgotten)".

Just as I was about to put a button on my sidebar saying how much I appreciate being tagged and humbled by awards ~ I don't want to disappoint - by not being able to fulfill the requirements and pass it along to others. So please leave me a comment in place of an award or tagging.

I received an Award - for Versatile Blogger from my dear friend Adrienne of The Rich Life (on a Budget) Adrienne has a fabulous blog and shares wonderful fun ways to enjoy life that DO NOT break the bank. Recently Adrienne also teamed up with another blog friend Rebekah to write Sugarless, Flourless and Fabulous! to share wonderful tips and recipes for eating healthy and staying fit.  Thank you Adrienne for understanding and saying up front if not able to do it - it is ok.... Thank you!! Thank You!!

I was also tagged by Halle of Classic Glam you can read about Halle, in my first response.

Quick Blogger TAG

 1. Who tagged you?
I was tagged by Halle of Classic Glam. Halle is new to Blogland, but if her first few posts are a taste of what she will be writing and sharing ... you will definitely want to be following her for fashion, interior design and at home spa remedies.

2. What is the main idea of your blog?
Originally when I started blogging in March 2010 ~ it was an outlet to help re-develop my writing, focus, memory and interacting skills in conjunction with my Speech Therapy (post accident). As I travel down the road of this detour in my life, it's starting to evolve into creating a Me and Life that better fit together.

3. What are your top 3 places to shop?
Through blogging I have meant some wonderful friends who are not only bloggers but wonderful artisans and purveyors of  things from simpler times [something that I find most appealing ~ like antique/vintage china; silver etc.] ~ ETSY and Blogger Boutiques

Holt Renfrew (it's like a Saks in the USA)

Paris
from street vendors to designer boutiques to the fabulous pastry and chocolate shops...

4. If you got $500 what would you spend it on?
I would buy chocolates and cards; donate them to the local Women's shelter, so that the women and children they help would know that someone is thinking of them and wishing them a Happy Valentine's day.

5. Flats or heels?
I am definitely a Heels gal heart and soul (if you see my shoe shelves they are still filled with heels) but, I'm slowly accepting that flats are in my future [my reality now]

6. Favorite color (be specific!)?
This is a tough one... I have been gravitating towards softer colours ... robin's egg blue ~ is definitely my go to colour at the moment for an accent colour in our home. For clothing earth tones (creams, tans, taupe, brown)

7. Favorite blogger of the moment and why?
WOW ... it's difficult to narrow it down to just one. There are so many wonderful wonderful ladies whom I admire for so many different reasons. As I read this question ~ a dozen names all entered my head. But rules are rules ... so
Carol from Facing 50 with Humour ~ even on my darker days, reading one of her posts ~ will soften a smile on my face ... and make my day a little brighter. When she was recently held hostage (not literally) without any internet access, = no posts, I found myself going back and reading some older posts. Even the second time around they managed to make me smile.

8. One of the goals you have for your blog?
I would love for my blog to become a great spot for people to find inspiration, motivation and be helpful to those facing transition(s) in life.

9. When did you start blogging?
March 1st 2010 my very post went up.

10. Who do you tag?
(At least 5 people: include names and links!)

I encourage you visit each of these ladies, they will brighten your day and inspire you! Please stop by and welcome Halle Classic Glam to BlogLand.

To the ladies I have tagged [borrowing Adrienne's words] please don't feel obligated to "do" your award ,tag if it's not your thing or you are too busy.
