Evening Tea on Dolce's and Gabbana's Patio

This summer the weather has been extremely hot with lots of humidity, making being outside next to impossible for me. Thus Dolce's and Gabbana's patio  area garden did not get done, perhaps some autumn bulbs will replace the weeds you see growing in what is suppose to be a flower bed.

We haven't spent much time with our furbabies on "their" patio, no worries ~ they have been with us on the back patio that is under construction, but has beautiful view of the garden.

One evening last week ... after a super hot day (100 plus degrees) the evening was a wonderful cool one and we decided to take tea outside after  dinner.

To add some colour and floral , I brought out one of our Orchids from the kitchen.

For our evening tea - I used a white teapot, placed our teacups on embroidered cotton place mats, of course  tea requires a sweet or two ~
Orchids are one of my all time favourite plants!! Though I'm not that great at keeping them flowering.
Does anyone have any tips for growing Orchids indoors?

These teacups are  a memento from our trip to Victoria B.C. where we stayed at the Fairmont Empress Hotel and Mr.G experienced his first afternoon tea.

The Empress Tea China was originally presented to King George V in 1914 upon the opening of the Booth factory in Stoke-on-Trent, England.
The china was first used by The Empress in 1939 for the Royal visit of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. The pattern is now produced by Royal Doulton exclusively for The Fairmont Empress.

The tea is Casablanca, a sweet mint tea & bergamot produce by MARIAGE FRÈRES  in Paris. Perfect for a cool summer evening.

This is a teacup that I have yet to use for tea. I fell in love with it's double handles and delicateness and I love that it is footed. The bottom of the cup says:
Made Expressively For Bailey . Banks . Biddle co.
Philadelphia . PA .
Patented
and there is also a green marking that looks like a C over an A

The china is super delicate and quite translucent , here it's working well as a sugar bowl...

Dolce and Gabbana enjoying our company on "their" patio...

Thank you for stopping by for tea today ...

  4. Dearest Celia,

What a lovely setting for an elegant after dinner tea!
Your Fairmont Empress cups & saucers are very elegant and come with a special memory.
The re-purposing of the thin 2-handled porcelain bouillon cup is very clever! Great idea.
And of course your two furbabies look adorable!
As for keeping orchids alive indoors, they should be fairly easy to handle. We let them soak in the kitchen sink, let's say every month or so, and than put them back in their spot. Does your planter have a drainage hole in the bottom?
Orchids usually bloom for months at a time and are very rewarding.
    Sending you lots of love,
    Mariette

  5. oh my, that pic of d and g at the end is too cute! 'where's our tea please?'

if the pretty little two handled cup is transluscent, then it is probably bone china. it bet it has an especially soft, smooth feel to it. gorgeous.

i too love orchids. i kept mine blooming for over a year and then it just quit on me. never got it to bloom again, so i'm afraid i do not have tips to share on that one c.

And I am loving this china especially as a sugar bowl...so delicate.
Re: orchids. I hear they are easy to take care of but I always end up killing mine way too soon. I'm no help am I?

  9. What a lovely teacups, Celia, and your furbabies are adorable! I like your pretty teapot too. There is just something about white that captivates me! I have never been to Victoria although had my son {he was there for a year} stayed there, we no doubt would have gotten there. Would love to visit the tea room. Thank you for coming by to have tea with me and have a beautiful day.

    Blessings,

  19. Bonjour, mon ami!! I hope you are doing well. Dolce and Gabbana are so
ADORABLE! They have such a lovely patio, and your tea setting is exquisite!
Lucky you to have a cool evening to enjoy your tea outside. Here, temps are a soaring 105-107 this week and the evenings aren't much cooler.
I wish I had orchid tips for you but I don't do well with them either. I have attempted my best but decided I must replace them instead.
Wishing you a most lovely week! xoxo, B

  22. I think you're kidding yourself about Dolce and Gabbana 'enjoying our company on "their" patio...' I think the truth of that is more like, "Drop a cookie, drop a cookie, pleeeeze?" It IS what their faces are saying. Smile!! I do love the peace induced by your tea time.

  23. Love those teacups. We had tea there too. So special. What a great first tea for Mr. G. I have the teapot to match. In fact, right now it has pink and lavender roses in it as teapots were used as centerpieces for a breast cancer fundraiser we had yesterday.
I love your linens too and how they are set off on the pretty color blue table.
All the best, Ruthie from :http://www.ladybstimefortea.blogspot.com/

  26. My flower beds are weeds. I planted flower seed but no chance. I used to have orchids for years but I was not lucky with having them reflower. Loved your tea party. Hugs.

  27. So glad you got a break in the weather to enjoy tea time on the patio - love your china pattern, as well as the blue chair and table! This heat and humidity has been horrible. You walk outside and you can barely breathe. Here's hoping that some much needed rain arrives and cools things down a bit. :)
