Baubles & Bling - ROM Currelly Society Event

As a member of the ROM's (Royal Ontario Museum) Currelly Society I had the privilege of being invited to experience the splendour of spectacular gems and precious stones with Katherine Dunnell - ROM Mineralogy Technician.
This particular August day was one of the hottest we were experiencing ...
thank goodness for light cotton and linen.

With the humidity levels through the sky ... curly locks won...

Essie pedi ...

Attendees were encouraged to wear or bring along their favourite jewels and share the story of their acquisition, if they so desired.

There were some amazing pieces and the stories ... you had to be there!!!

I brought along my summertime favourite earrings that I acquired from dear friend Vanessa's boutique  Luxuria Jewellery Boutique . These beauties were the perfect touch of colour with summer's neutrals, whites and creams. If you have not visited the Luxuria boutique you are missing out on some fabulous beauties. Collections within the Luxuria Jewellery Boutique are not massed produced, so you know you are getting a true work of art. I received brilliant compliments at the Currelly event.

I'll leave you with a close up of Dolce as he watched his mama taking self-photos...

What was your favourite summertime jewelry piece?

Wishing you a luxuriously balanced life,

Simple Pleasures - Fresh Cut Flowers

Fresh cut flowers not only add beauty to your home they are great for helping uplift your mood.

You don't need to spend a lot of money. These two bouquets from the local market were just 2/$10 ...

Add an extra touch by using an unexpected container ... this metal water pitcher with it's leather handle not only makes the purple colour of the daisies pop, but adds interest.

the lilies and yellow blooms look so elegant in this glass vase ...

We all experience morning blahs from time to time .... start your day with a positive attitude by keeping a fresh cut bouquet on your vanity. You can't help but smile as you look at them, instantly changing your mood to a friendlier, happier and more positive out look throughout your day.

People with fresh cut flowers in their home are most likely to feel less worried and feel fewer periods of anxiety or depression.

Fresh cut flowers are definitely a simple pleasure with lots of luxurious impact.

Are fresh flowers a regular staple in your home?

Wishing you a luxurious balanced weekend,

The Luxury of Time in the City ...

As long time readers/followers of HHL know, over the past few months I have been spending less time at the country home and a little more time at the city home. One of the luxuries I love about being in the city is TIME and all the things you can accomplish in just a couple of hours vs being in the country.
The hot sun and humidity of summer takes a toll on curly hair (leaving very little options for styling: curly, up in bun, frizz - repeat) - with the calender turning to September and the temps cooling (bye, bye humidity) it was time visit Fiorio, in Yorkville, for some damage control and a much long awaited blow out. Since being in the city more often over the past year or so - Fiorio has become my go to salon for taking care of my natural curly hair. Mark is my go to guy for colour ; Daniel for my cuts and styling; and Sunny for my blow outs - she is amazing with the blow dryer taming my curls brilliantly!

Another fabulous thing about being in the city is that you are able to meet up with friends at a moments notice. And yet another is that you can actually wear the clothes you have hanging in your closet and your heels are saying HELLO!!! remember me???

Watch - Cartier; bracelets - Pandora; Hermes; and gold bracelet from Europe; Ring - costume pearl and crystals.

Tote- Louis Vuitton

sunglasses - Roberto Cavalli ; pants - Elie Tahari; blouse - DKNYC

Within  just over THREE hours I had my hair done; caught up with a friend over lunch; picked up some groceries from Whole Foods and was on my way back to the city home. If I was in the country - the time to drive in and then get back - I would only have been able to accomplish ONE of these things and it would have taken the whole day.

Do you live where you work, play? in the countryside or the city?
Is everything close by or do you have to commute to various places?

Wishing you a luxuriously balanced life,
