We have all been there at one time or another, walking along when without any warning your heel gets caught in a sidewalk crack or street grate. If you are lucky you escape injury, but more often than not your shoes are ruined. And let's not forget the embarrassment.

The genius mind behind this creative solution for busy women on the go is Canada's Tanya Heath, from Ottawa, Ontario. Tanya moved to France in 1996. Unable to find a shoe that was versatile for work, while practical and comfortable for navigating the cobblestone streets of Paris when walking her children to school, she set out in 2009 to create one. Fourteen engineers and shoe technicians along with several designers and master boot makers, Heath created a shoe and heel system that is both stylish and comfortable. The first boutique was launched in Paris in 2013 and now women in North America can also have access to easily purchasing this ingenious creation through the location in Toronto. Why I Love City Living ~ Neighbourhoods (Kensington Market)

One of the benefits of living in a city such as Toronto is the diverse neighbourhoods for exploring. This weekend with the warm temps (4 above zero) we decide to explore Kensington Market in the Bathurst /College area.  I remember my first visit with my parents in the 70s when it was predominately a Portuguese community. Today the shops are diverse as the residents in the area.

There are lots of fruit markets and specialty food shops ...

Sanagan's Meat Locker is a hugely popular meat shop. Since opening in October 2009 Sanagan’s is continuously busy. As you can see from the photo above it was jammed packed.  Sanagan's focuses on locally and ethically raised animals.

From food to clothing and everything in between Kensington Market has something for everyone. And the amazing aroma's coming from Rasta Pasta and Segovia will have you taste buds dancing for a taste.

Is an Ugly Christmas Sweater party on your social calendar? Vintage Depot and Exile will be where you will find the perfect sweater!!

Be sure to check out the alleys throughout the market to see some amazing street art.

We finished our afternoon with a visit to Wanda's Pie in the Sky. Wanda is famous for her pies ... but to our surprise there was also homemade soup, sandwiches, and other savory treats perfect for a late lunch. Oh and there are cakes and tarts and cookies too!

The atmosphere is friendly ...the staff super helpful and very pleasant. The large harvest like tables and seating is perfect for chatting with friends and strangers alike. We had the pleasure of chatting with a couple from Thornhill who are thinking of moving into Toronto's core. And also a friendly and engaging gal lunching with a friend - it was interesting that she too is thinking about a move to Toronto from St. Catherines.  Yes, city living ... not just any city Toronto!

I enjoyed the broccoli squash soup ...which was topped with cheese... so good that I almost forgot to capture a photo.

Can't say that I thought about photos much either when it came to my pecan pie! LOL ... as you can see it was a tad late when I remembered the camera. I sipped the hot chocolate which was super chocolaty and creamy. 

It was a great Saturday afternoon!!!
