Autumn to Winter and The Other Side of Thin Update

Welcome to Over a Cup of Tea with Celia M. - #8

Autumn is starting to give way to the gloomy days and reminding us that winter and it's really cold days are not far behind. This day certainly felt more like winter than mid November. Looking out the kitchen window the trees are now bare and the gardens are looking grayish.

Inside the Christmas Cactus is blooming its bright red colour ...

To help ward off the chill this green ginger tea from TAZO was beckoning to be enjoyed.

To enjoy our tea I'm using a teacup and plate duo. It's stamped J.E. Caldwell & Co. Philadelphia and above that is a stamp that reads La Cloche - with the words French on one ribbon tip and China on the other. above that is a bell with T.V. and above that Limoges.
The teacup sits perfectly on the plate's indent leaving plenty of room for some goodies.

With Today's tea some mini croissants ...

I recently received an email with a question about how I was doing with my weight. The reader had read a post from my The Other Side of Thin Series - part One which I wrote in April - 2012. At that time I was weighing in at 145 lbs. and by June 2012 I was weighing in at 153 lbs. - I managed to get my weight down to 140 lbs by September 2012 and wrote about it here - Moving the Scale -The Other Side of Thin Series - where I shared tips on maintaining a healthy eating lifestyle. I'm happy to report that I did go on to loose an additional 10 lbs. - and have been maintaining my weight between 130 - 133 lbs. for almost 10 months.
I'm currently working on the next 10 lbs. hoping to get down to 120 lbs.

You can read Part Two and Part Three .

What tips can you share that have worked
for you in loosing the last 10 lbs. ?

Stay warm...

  2. Hi Celia,
It's gray here too. And cold! I think Winter is coming early here and how I dread it. Anyway, nothing like a hot cuppa tea to warm one up and help one feel better. Your set is lovely and ginger tea is marvelous! I happened to see your post and stopped by. Blogger still hasn't updated my blog but my party is up and running. Enjoy your tea and your day.

    Blessings,
    Sandi

  3. Dearest Celia,
What a lovely vintage TV Limoges Tennis Cup & Saucer Set you show us here! So elegant and delicate and paired with those croissants it looks perfect.
We got back today from Atlanta, spent the night at a Hyatt Place so it would not be to stressful doing it all in one day. After all it is 540 km roundtrip. But we stocked up again; after 7 weeks my first long distance drive. Yeah, I feel very happy about that. They expect heavy rain and wind for tomorrow so we opted to beat that. Yes, those dark and dreary days are arriving; we had -5°C this morning in Dublin I could see on my laptop... Glad the fur babies know how to huddle inside the home; they're smart!
Sorry but I cannot give you a tip for how to loose the last 10 pounds as I never had to loose any weight. But one thing I can add that helps you maintain a stable weight; checking labels and choosing low sodium, low cholesterol and low sugar! We have to do that for health issues, not for loosing weight but that's the bonus and those that gained some extra pounds might get rid of them fast that way. It does pay off!
Sending you both lots of love,
    Mariette

  4. Celia, I've had to fight weight all my life (or I thought I did). Now, I really do. It is horrible to want to lose and be completely unable to move the scale downward, which is where I am now. I would love to have tea with you one day. Happy Holidays !!

  6. Hi, Celia:
Just found your Blog. Really like the "tea" and "weight talk". My fix for the last ten pounds is to eat as many low-glycemic foods as I can. I started reading all of Dr. Barry Sears, Ph.D. books on "The Zone". What a help! I am raising a child with autism and I went from an 8 to 16 size over 10 years. The added weight from stress only added more stress. After getting on the Zone Diet eating sensibly, I finally made it out of the fat nightmare. So perhaps you might search web for listing of low-glycemic foods and start there. When your (me) so far down its really hard to help yourself back up. But it can be done even with many failures and re-starts. Great job on taking control! For me, even one day is a great victory. You have made a great achievement!

  10. Lovely images C and I can smell that gorgeous ginger tea from here.
Congratulations on your weight loss so far. I'm not a good person to ask as I have the will-power of a gnat. But I have started reading The Fast Diet. Watch the BBC documentary on You Tube of Dr Michael Mosely and I think it will really inspire you to give it a whirl. They also have a fab Facebook page.

  11. My dear Celia, what an elegant and delicate set of tea you have here, the Limoges is so lovely.
And the mini croissants are such a good treat to go with the green ginger tea.
Here the temperature dropped a bit and it starts "smelling" like winter.
Congratulations on your weight loss and also for maintaining it. "Au contraire" I have gain some weight, not much, but enough to be careful. Well I guess I can blame my age and menopause.... lol lol
I've struggled with weight loss all my life, so I'm tired of it. I decided that I must control, but I'm not doing much to loose weight. Also if I loose weight my face will be with wrinkles and I have to choose. I choose the good face :)
    Love and blessings, dear.

  12. Your tea set is really beautiful, Celia. It looks lovely and I like the space for a special treat like your croissants. Good for you on the weight loss regimen. I find it really hard to lose as I love my chocolate and sweets. I did cut back on them a few weeks ago and lost 6 pounds but noticed I've let them into my life again. :( With Christmas coming it is difficult but I will try. Take care. Pamela

  13. Starting with a hydrocolon therapy. You will lose just 1-2 kg with a really empty gut. Then stop eating sugar, pasta, bread. Stop eating after 5 pm and if possible, do dinner canceling once to twice a week. One day a week indulge yourself with all the goodies you like but in half portion (alco too). Have a 20-30 min. walk before breakfast and if you like do some easy exercise 2-3times a week. But I have recently read that exercise is not the main point to lose weight , eating habits are more important. Anyway you got already nearly your dream weight. So take it easy for the next 10 lbs. Good luck.
