Chocolate ~ Autumn ~ Apples

Nothing says Autumn more than a drive to the country and an apple orchard that allows you to enjoy the thrill of picking your own apples. Now take these apples and turned them into a chocolate lovers delight! and you are talking!!
Elegant!!

Artistic!!

FUN!!

Tempting!!!

Ok, so you ready to give it a whirl ...

Chocolate Harvest Apples

• 6 medium apples
• 6 wooden skewers or popsicle sticks
• 16 oz. semi-sweet or milk chocolate

Cover a tray with wax paper. Wash and dry apples. Insert a stick into the stem end of each apple. If you are planning on fancying up your apples ~ organize your toppings such as mini M&Ms, colored sprinkles, crushed nuts, diced candied fruit … your imagination is the limit here ~ into individual bowls. These toppings may be sprinkled on apples or once covered in chocolate, gently roll the apple in topping – until desired coverage is achieved.

Place chocolate and shortening into the top of double boiler to melt chocolate. Stir with a wooden spoon. Do not allow to bubble! Once the chocolate is completely melted and smooth, you are ready to start dipping.

Dip apples into chocolate, twirl to remove excess chocolate. If you wish to add toppings do so after apple is chocolate covered – wait a second or two for chocolate to set a little. You can also drizzle a contrasting chocolate over the top for added decoration ~ this is easily done by dipping a popsicle stick into the contrasting chocolate and letting it drizzle over the chocolate covered apple.

Place on wax paper covered tray and refrigerate for 1 hour or until set.

ENJOY!!! - Till next Chocolate Thursday..................

  2. I will wait until it cools off a bit here. Thinking... October! My daughter has a new obsession with apples, so this should really make her smile.

Thanks for the awesome comment on my post yesterday. I was feeling really strong over the past week, and now the dreaded "what-ifs" are swirling around as we wait for results.

Going for a walk so I can see if I can shake them off!

  7. These apples are works of art - I'd be more apt to use them as centerpieces, rather than ruin the beauty...who am I kidding? I'd dig right into the chocolate!

  8. Adore these pictures. I am currently filled with shame because it has taken until now to reply to your incredibly kind blogging award. From JULY. I am beyond the pale. Do only hope you can forgive. Go to today's blog to see the full mea culpa. With deep apologies, Tania.
