Writing Outside...

Since the warm weather is short where we live, I love to take advantage of it by being outside as much as I can. I also have found writing is very therapeutic, so why not merge writing with being outside. One of the many wonderful blessings of living in the country is that you can just walk outside your back door and find peaceful, inspiring spots to sit and write.

I have a little basket that I pack up with my note book computer, an "old fashion" note book to quickly jot down ideas, 7-year pen my sister gave me, my Chanel reading glasses, a chocolate treat (this time a Kinder bueno), a canteen of freshly steeped tea and my new tea mug - a gift from Suburban Princess writer of The Life of a Suburban Princess.

One of my go to spots is on this bench under the apple tree.

Here I usually sit and make some hand-written notes of random thoughts.

While enjoying the beauty of our Angel Garden.

Another of my go to spots and possibly my favourite is the
Muskoka area ~
named for the Muskoka chairs that oversee our stream.

After pouring myself some soothing tea  I can sit back and enjoy the
sounds of nature, while clicking away on my notebook.

Today ... outdoor writing time was cut short by the rain ...

Where is your favourite spot to write?

  1. I always seem to write while sitting in bed. Maybe because I don't have a desk in my room? But your outdoors looks beautiful and inspiring! Happy Sunday!

  2. Love the photos! Love where you live and I have to say, Jealous! Beautiful new cup!

For me I normally end up writing where I shouldn't - middle of family get togethers - kids play dates - trips - the car, even the train! I normally have to keep a pen and pad with me at all times so when i get a "new" idea I can write enough to capture the flavor of the story.
Then I sit down go into my quite spot (which resides only in my head) and type it all out.

  3. It does not matter where you sit, you still do a great job on your writing. This appears to be a very quiet and peaceful place to concentrate.

  10. Gosh sweet friend you have two beautiful spots to write! I usually read when I'm outside by my pool, but do all my writing inside at my desk. Boring compared to your beautiful spots.

    Hugs,

  11. OOH, I'm jealous!! And too funny--my mom has that same little basket/tote in blue that she stocks for the pool in our backyard--usually her sunglasses, a book, water bottle, phone!

  12. Oh, so peaceful... I feel more relaxed already. Wish I could join you on that bench, although, I get the feeling there would be much more talking than writing! xo

  14. Hi Celia,
My favorite place to write is at my cottage by the lake. I'm away from all distractions of my every day life there and getting back to nature and the peace that I find away from the city.
    Much love to you,
    Mary

  18. Those photos are fab and your writing area looks just lovely! I bet you enjoy that so much. I quite like to blog in the kitchen! I like being outside but when it's sunny I struggle to see the screen- not that we get much sun in the UK!

  19. I love to spend time outdoors when the sun is shining and it is warm. That's just a handful of days here in Southcentral Alaska.

  20. I'm afraid I'm rather uninspiring. I prefer to blog from my home computer simply for the ease of use. So I'm chained to my desk in the computer room. :) I'm your newest follower from Totally Tuesday blog hop. Would love it if you'd swing by my blog when you get a chance! ☺

  23. That is a really idyllic spot to write. I love to be outdoors too, but it's incredibly windy here right now and not particularly pleasant to walk in. Certainly no good to write in!

    Have a great day.

  27. That scene looks totally blissful, High Heeled. I'm v. jealous.

Strangely enough, I actually enjoy writing in the bath. I'm always very calm there and find that ideas come easily to me. Plus, bubbles and comfiness. : )
