Currelly Society Centennial Tea - April 3, 2014 For the Royal Ontario Museum

A few weeks ago I had the distinct honour of being invited to attend the Currelly Society Centennial Tea for the Royal Ontario Museum.
The official opening of the Royal Ontario Museum took place at three o'clock,
Thursday, March 19th, 1914.

What to wear....
I choose my Micheal Korrs LBD, with Dolce and Gabbana heels.... and a hat by Daniele Meucci. Our little furbabies sure did wish they could come.

 candid photos ...

More candid photos....

(L) Janet Carding-Director & CEO, ROM (R) Jean Read - Chair, Currelly Society - reminded us of the importance of preserving our history and present for future generations. We were also given a little preview of the upcoming ROM exhibition Around 1914: Design in a New Age by Robert Little, Mona Campbell Chair of European Decorative Arts.

Attendees having a fabulous time...

To accompany our tea ... some bubbly to start ...
Our taste buds were tantalized with savory cress rolls, asparagus rolls, cucumber and cream cheese, salmon, cucumber and dill, roast beef with horseradish and ribbon sandwiches with ham and egg.

And of course our sweet tooth was more than satisfied with eccles cake, French lemon tarts, berry custard tarts, macarons (pistachio and cassis), lemon and fennel madeleines and petite chocolate eclairs. these photos say it all... SCRUMPTIOUS!!!

Classic and raisin scones were served with Devonshire cream and strawberry preserves.
 ...seriously divine...

It was amazing to see all the ladies and their fashionable hats ... at the end of the event a group photo of all ladies (and gentleman) wearing a hat was taken to mark the moment.

The Currelly Society is named in honour of the first director of the Royal Ontario Museum of Archaeology and his wife, and recognizes individuals who have promised future gifts. In celebration of the ROM's Centennial, the Currelly Society 100X100 Campaign was initiated in 2008 to welcome 100 new members by the close of the ROM Centennial.  As of March 2014 the Currelly Society is just over half way to reaching the goal of  the 100X100 Campaign.

Mr. G and I have both committed to leaving a lasting legacy. And I encourage you to consider the ROM in your estate planning. By supporting the ROM, you help enrich lives and inspire future generations of scientists, artists, citizens, and leaders.

  1. Dearest Celia,
Saw this post's thumbnail and I had to close my browser for a problem. Next I found a newer post... So I did go back to this one.
First off, how cute you look in your LBD and hat with D&G Heels. You are so beautiful and looking quite spunky with your dimpled cheeks. So glad you got invited and also fun that they all wore a hat; I like that very much.
Sending you lovely greetings and blessings for a great Palm Sunday.
    Sunshine enclosed...

  6. After reading this and seeing everyone looking so lovely, I feel somewhat like a slob! I am getting to the point that I do not want to dress up any longer (I am much older, than you). Feeling guilty, but so enjoyed this post!!
