How Do You Manage Change?

Welcome to Over a Cup of Tea...
Today for our tea I've chosen this beautiful teacup and saucer from the Bombay Company. The gold handle with the finger hold and the sturdy thumb rest is perfect for a time when you become deep in thought.

Of course it's always wonderful to add a little treat ... these are actually yummy bite size biscuits.

This was the message on my tea ...

Now that we have our tea and bite size treats I would like to share this excerpt from my speaking engagement with BIST (Brain Injury Society of Toronto) in October 2013.

The key to getting through any of the detours (expected and unexpected) that may come your way as you move forward on your life journey is to love and make time for taking care of yourself.

How do you deal with change?
Would love for you to share your tips.

  1. After working for Rogers for 20+ years, I am an EXPERT at embracing change! Really, it is about stepping back, taking a deep breath and moving forward with the new.

  4. You neglected to tell us what tea you were drinking! Handling change, hmm. I sat through a course once where the speaker spoke how most people do not handle change well. They tend to take it personally and with fear. He encouraged us to face the many changes heading toward our department with the understanding that it is not personal and to have courage to soldier on. I'm not good with surprise changes but I think I handle changes I know are coming better than I used to! I still hate Windows 8 (my new laptop that was supposed to come with Windows 8) but I am at least giving it a try (smile). AND with very little whining, a real improvement!!

    1. Ah .. my dear friend I so can relate to technical challenges ... I love my Windows 7 and the thought of learning 8 would be most overwhelming. Having said that it is good to try new things and challenge the mind .... it's all about taking a positive and moving forward. The tea is a new one I'm trying Green Tea Kombucha by Yogi - it's a product of the USA... made with organic green tea leaf, organic lemongrass, organic spearmint leaf, natural passion fruit flavour, natural plum flavour, organic komucha ... Wishing you a fabulous week ahead... hugs and blessings, C.

  5. Dearest Celia,
Oh my, how often have we changed direction? From The Netherlands to Georgia; voluntarily. From Georgia to Pennsylvania; unvoluntarily... Campbell's Soup was in charge - not us! But we took charge of our lives again by leaving for the next adventure; life and work in Italy in a NEW language. You can do almost anything if you use your will power and believe me, most people have al LOT of it; it often stays just dormant... One more time we did switch gears by changing language and start living and working in Indonesia.
All that change has made us a lot stronger and a lot more objective. Believe me, we now CAN compare since we know both sides, many sides. Most people complaining or whining a lot have not even anything else to compare with. They want things handed to them on a silver platter but that's not what life is about. It's about hard work and perseverence and that will give the highest reward of satisfaction and feeling happy and above all; content.
Hugs to you and enjoy your tea!

  7. Celia, You are so inspiring! Loved your video. Your teacup with the poppies reminds me of the one Judith showed in her tea post today. I really enjoyed this post and I applaud you. :)

  9. Wonderful question…change can come in so many ways! I suppose to look at some as seasons in life and to accept and to celebrate all that they bring. Change can be a very good thing! I do appreciate you sharing with A Return to Loveliness,
    Kathy
