This week-end I awoke to the smell of bacon... I was excited to get out of bed, not only was breakfast being prepared I could smell the bacon!!! (for new readers, my sense of smell comes and goes as it pleases)
This was the perfect opportunity to pull out a table cloth I had purchased through one of the fabulous ETSY shops. Pale yellow and hand embroidered with Roosters and flowers (the inspiration for this post's title) and trimmed with a blue band.
I set the make-shift island (our kitchen remains under renovations) with cream plates, love the warped like edges!! Daily cutlery, natural cotton napkins with silver Monsieur and Madame napkin rings.
With it being St. Patrick's Day week-end, I placed our little potted market Irish shamrock on the table.
We used the white transition from winter to spring white mugs and juice glasses with a fleur de lis. Very simple...

and flowers ... perfect backdrop to this breakfast!
This morning I was feeling like a little French pressed coffee...
and I love using our toast rack!! Why have people stopped using them?
Breakfast was delicious! The touch of fresh figs and slice of tangerine was perfect!

ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely breakfast setting, yummy food and above all the fact that you could actually smell the bacon!
Guess we have lots of things in common, like the French press cafetière. We got the Mélior cafetières in small, medium and large sizes. Never bitter coffee.
We have always breakfast at home, never out of the home. For health reasons it is far better and I love to linger over breakfast in our bay window area of the kitchen. When the sun is out, that makes it a feast!

Breakfast is always such a rushed affair during the week, it is lovely to make more of a family effort at the weekend.

DeleteBeautiful table!..My hubby works from home so we have a very casual breakfast together every morning during the week...On weekends I try to make a more "hearty" breakfast...Bacon?..I could eat the entire pound!

Etsy .. is amazing!!! We try to do things a little the "old fashion" way at our home in the country ... I've recently started pulling out the linen table cloths and napkins and try to use them daily. Life is short -- no sense "saving" things for a special day, everyday is special...

ReplyDeleteI loved hearing a little about your "new life" and what you have been through. I do understand part since we went through that with our oldest grandson and his accident. A TBI is quite the thing to recover from. I loved your comment that my grandson's time wasn't up yet because that's exactly what my grandson said when he started healing. He kept saying he wondered what the Lord wanted him to do and felt He saved him for a reason. I am sure you are touching many with your story and your courage and strength during the recovery process. Life is a little different, but in some ways better. The Lord really is so loving and definitely works in very mysterious ways. God Bless you even more every day. Hugs, Marty

Beautiful breakfast setting. Yes, husband and I have a very nice and leisurely breakfast on the weekends varying what we eat with usually bacon one day and sausage the next, juice, toast and eggs one day and cinnamon rolls the next. It is something we both look forward to because we usually eat very lite throughout the week opting for yogurt, cereal and fruit.

ReplyDeleteWho wouldn't love to wake up to the smell of bacon cooking!? Love the rooster, the pressed coffee and the toast cooler. That's what we always called those great toast holders in England. I do have one and enjoy using it.
