Milk and Honey Does the Body Good~

Cleopatra did not have all the products available to us today, to keep her skin soft, moisturized and glowing, instead she turned to nature. Perhaps we should take a page from history to help sooth and smooth our skin.

I recently came across some bath rituals that I friend had shared with me a few years ago and I have to say I recall trying it for a few weeks and did notice my skin was softer and dewy. I think I will start adding these a couple times a week to my daily bathing.

Honey & Milk Bath

1/2 cup powdered milk (or goat's milk)
1/2 cup raw honey

Mix ingredients in a large bowl and pour your warm bath. Soak for up to 20 minutes to infuse these beneficial ingredients in your skin. This recipe makes enough for one bath. (I added a couple drops of rose water).

Milk & Honey Facial Rinse

1 oz raw honey
1 cup skim milk (or goat's milk, or donkey milk)
2 teaspoons aloe vera gel

Combine ingredients in a glass jar (a new mason jar works great) and shake well. Apply to your face morning and evening with a cotton ball. Mixture can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks.

What bath ritual secrets do you have for keeping smooth and youthful skin?

  3. These recipes sound wonderful! I recently tried washing my face with just plain honey (read that idea somewhere) and it felt really good. I'll bet adding it with powdered milk to the bath water would feel fantastic. Thanks for sharing this idea.

  4. I've read it makes your skin incredibly soft. Well, I've never added it to my bath but I drink milk with honey almost every night!

  8. Hi there,
How lovely to find another Canadian blogger. There don't seem to be many of us out there!
Thank you for leaving me a comment so I could find out.
As for the honey and milk bath, I had to wonder if the honey would leave a sticky residue in the tub? Have you tried it?

  10. Terrific tips. At my age my face can use all the help that it can get. If it was good enough for Cleopatra it is good enough for me. Thanks!

  11. Good morning from Tokyo! What delightful alternatives to dropping a bundle at a department store. Honey is supposed to do wonders for your skin as it helps restore elasticity as well as add a radiant glow.

I'm not sure about all that, to be honest, but I do exfoliate twice a week with a two parts honey one part sugar mix and my skin does feel extra soft and look better. Just make sure to add a little water to your mixture and your face otherwise the sugar granules will scratch instead of gently buff.

Your blog is a wonderful read~so glad I found it.

A lovely day to you and yours...

    Warmly,

    Elizabeth

  12. I LOVE this image so much especially with the blueish flowers floating in the bath. We have an old white clawf oot tub and I always fill it with water when we have parties and float candles or flowers in it. Mostly though I love your Spa recipes. I am going to use it today as my skin is getting so dry from the change of weather. I have some raw honey from the farmers market...YAY, I'm so excited...Thanks for a great post
