SAVOUR THE MOMENT.....

Amore for 2
Italian Style Hot Chocolate

1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa
1/3 cup sugar
1 teaspoon cornstarch* or arrowroot
2 cups milk or half milk-half water

Creation:
Mix the cocoa, sugar and cornstarch together until thoroughly blended.

Add 1/2 cup liquid to a medium saucepan and set over low heat. Whisk in the cocoa mixture until thoroughly incorporated and no lumps remain. Add the rest of the liquid.

Cook, stirring constantly using whisk, over medium-low heat, until the mixture is thickened (it coats the back of a spoon), about ten minutes.

Make It Yours:
Once the cocoa has thickened, you can stir in a hint of additional flavorings before serving:
1/4 tsp of:
vanilla or almond extract
or a liquior such as Grand Marnier , Pepperrmint , Banana , Frangelco

Presentation:
Serve in tea cups for the unexpected factor. Dust each serving with cinnamon or nutmeg. A small almond cookie or biscotti on the side ...

*cornstarch will not clump like flour. Its smooth and tasteless.

  5. I don't have any chocolate recipes to share. If I knew my aunt's secret Oreo pie recipe, I would rat her out, but I don't. :( I've never even gotten to eat a piece of it! It's so awful. Every SINGLE time we have our family reunion I get to hear about how wonderfully delicious her pie tastes, then when I go to get some for dessert after finishing my dinner, it's all gone! This past June, my cousin - my aunt's 13 year-old daughter, walked away with the last piece as I was going to get some. I was like, give it up, girl. You live with the baker; you can have this any time! Anway, I'll get off my chocolate box. Stopping by from LBS! :)

  6. I have a chocolate recipe, but it is sinful....Ashley kind of invented it! I think it was part of the reason I had to have my gallbladder removed!
    Hugs.

  14. Best reason for a linky list ever!!

All my cooking tends to involved 4 ingredients or less, so I'm not a good source of recipes, but I make up for it by being an excellent roadtester of others' recipes (ie the piggy who eats them!).

Thanks for the awesome recipe. : )
