A Day in the Gardens

There is nothing better for mind , spirit and body than a spring day in the Garden.... of course unless it's a day in the garden with friends willing to roll up their sleeves and help get things in order for a wonderful garden season.

This year even getting in the garden has been a bit challenging, which often leaves me frustrated. Mr. G's outdoor spring list for the property is already enormous, that I feel guilty asking for him to do more. Especially when it's things that I should be doing without a problem. So, I put it out to the Universe and next thing I know, our friends from Vermont came to visit ~ and one of the first things they said was "Ok guys, what needs to be done? We are here to work, we've brought our gardening clothes".

After enjoying their company... our guests reminded us that they wanted to help and started tackling project after project ... While the English green thumb hubby gave Mr. G a hand with the chainsaw; moving some brush, trimming trees. My sweet Parisian friend (his wife) made it her mission to get unsightly weeds under control.

All I can say is "thank  you" first to our dear friends English Hubby and French Wife ... for being the wonderful friends (extended family) you are. We truly treasure you and our friendship, and are most appreciative of your hands on attitude! and Second for remembering to ask for help ... our Angels really do listen, when we ask HIM for something and they are most happy to set about putting things in motion.

So, lets take a stroll.....

Our little Magnolia tree made the week as it dazzled us with its colorful soft lilac blooms ...

Our Angel Garden is the first of the gardens to bring to life the colors that only Mother Nature can produce!

Of course our tulips offer up a bit of sunshine too!!

Butterflies take flight in search of a spot in which to bask in the warmth of the day's sun....

Even a robin is not scared off  by our noisy human presence ... it continues on about its day.

Our little Gabbana is delighted that she has found a flower that is not told to leave alone...

As all gardeners know, to enjoy one's gardens there is a labour of love that must first be done...
Here our Butterfly Garden is starting to come alive ... giving us various shades of green. But not all that is green should be in the garden...and boy do the weeds seem to find their perfect home alongside the flower plants.  The photo above is our Butterfly Garden BEFORE ......

Our Parisian friend and nature loving friend discovered the dandelion/weed "thingy"...
no weed had a chance ...

And here is the Butterfly Garden breathing happily with no pesky weeds and a good turning of soil.

and a day in the garden would not be complete with out lots of water and fresh fruits to keep one going..
(merci mon ami... it was perfect ).

This is how we get around our property and haul things to and from the gardens...

This little Fairy ... is the inspiration for a new garden we are creating this year...

I'm so happy you joined us for a day in the garden!

Do you garden?
What have you found works best to keep the weeds away ?

Road Trip, Monster Cats, & Dolce Dreams -Dolce PawsPost

Boy did I have a fun week! I went to visit my friend Daisy at her Mommy's and Daddy's new cottage in Huntsville, on the week-end... it was a really long drive. I sat in my Doggie-car -seat and was a really good boy. Daisy was really happy to see me!
We had lots of fun chasing each other...and no leash!!! Mommy wasn't too happy when I came back all wet from the grass. Maybe that's why she was calling me to come back... opps! My sister Stella just watched like a good Big Sister ... she is very calm.

All was going great until we went inside. I was greeted by these great big furry things - I didn't know what they were, I knew they couldn't be doggies!!!

I WARNED you... BIG!!!! I saw my whole doggie life pass before, then Daisy's Mommy came to my rescue. I stayed really close to Mommy and Daddy the rest of the week-end...

After a week-end like that - the rest of the week was a walk in doggie-dream land!
Hmm... if I jump on that chair ... can I jump that high? Lets see what is on Mommy's Computer...
What do you mean I can't pick my own channel? Did you forget, I was traumatized by that Big Fuury Monster ...

Thought you would see it my way... now where is that show with Humphrey? He looks just like me..

The Lillies are starting to bloom ... they smell so sweet!!

The Butterfly garden has so many new flowers too!

Paws & Licks until next Friday!!!

Surprise for Mommy - Dolce PawsPost Fridays

As we enter into summer, the weather is suppose to get hotter – this week started out not too bad. We had a day of nice warm weather – and I got to take Mommy for a garden walk; I got to wear my sandals.
The rain and sun have been really helping the flowers to grow ... this makes Mommy very happy!

Daddy and I have been working really hard to set up a sitting area by the stream for Mommy. She can go there to write, read , just sit and enjoy all the nature around her and of course bring me for nice walks. Daddy and I are going to reveal what with have been doing, I'm so excited - Come Mommy hurry!

SURPRISE!!!!!
It was a little cooler today so I had to wear my Juicy sweater and running shoes. This is a great view of the stream!!!! So quiet, all you can hear is the birds singing, and Frog friend jumping into the water. Look I think I see the little fish... Mommy looks really happy!!

Is that a treat ??? Daddy said I was a great helper and a good boy ... I love treats!

Dolce Paws Until Next Friday!!!!!

Happy Canada Day to all my Canadian Friends!!!!!!
Happy Fourth of July to all my American Friends!!!!!

Dolce's PawsPost - Garden Walk

I waited and waited for Mommy to take me on our evening garden walk. Did she forget? It was Thursday evening and I had a post to paw for Friday! What would I post if we didn't go for our walk? I paced at the garden door, in hopes of reminding her. Where was she? Finally I decided to go see what was taking her so longgggg!

As I ran up the stairs I could could hear Daddy saying "don't forget the sun block," I went around the corner so fast - that I slid into Mommy's clostet - stopped only by the purple box on the floor. What was this? Mommy looked down at me, "I'm going to miss you!" - miss me? I am right here! Lets go for our walk I barked softly and wagged my tail ... "can you take him for his walk, I still have so much to pack" she said to Daddy. "Oh, and can you take the camera and take some pics of the gardens and Dolce - as he explores on his walk".

Walks with Daddy are always lots of fun... he lets me run freely and takes me past the stream and to the other side of the forest. We had so much fun playing. When we came back in - Mommy was still upstairs. "did you get some good pics of Dolce's walk for his post?" Opps, we had so much fun playing we forgot to take pictures. "No worries, I don't think I will have time to post, I'm tired and I just finished packing". "Packing"  where are we going?

When my Mommy and Daddy went downstairs to get something I started to look around for my DoggiePack, sniff, snifft, sniff. Then I heard Daddy saying to Mommy "don't worry - we will be fine, you are only going for the week-end, you need a break." Whatttt? I'm not going? I had to get in this box, I had to go too! I love going on vacation!!!

"Check out your suitcase...laughing ..." Daddy called to Mommy. Ahhh busted ... I knew I should have hid under her clothes.

Friday morning, we woke up really early! I thought I'll just jump into my chair at the door and give Mommy my best "puppy doggie eyes" this always gets me extra treats - so she will have to take me too!

All I got was a walk ... and a short one!!

Here are a couple of pics, from this morning's very, very, very, very  short walk;

I guess Mommy really is going without me ... Daddy says its too hot in Bermuda for me. Maybe I will have some doggie play dates.

This is my Sister- Stella, she is not as small as me, but she is lots of fun to play with! She is a Yellow-English Lab.
This Bella, she is a Maltipoo - she likes to chase me all the time. We have lots of fun.

This is Daisy - she is a Papichon - she use to hide from me and jump on the couch so I couldn't catch her. But, now that I'm a big Doggie, I can keep up with her.

Oh, in her busy Friday morning, Mommy forgot to post my PawsPost so you get to hear from me 2 times this week. When, Mommy gets back she promised to take me for an extra long garden walk. See you Friday!!!

The prepped expanded area waiting for the arrival of its new inhabitants.
