A Lesson in Change from Mother Nature ~ over a cup of tea

Welcome to tea my friends, I'm so happy you popped by. The weather today went up to 17 degrees! Could it be that spring has finally arrived?

Since the weather has been most unpredictable ... As I set off for my afternoon walk, I packed a little bag with some tea and goodies. After all one needs to remember to enjoy the moments.

Despite the warm temperature it is still a little crisp ...
and the hot tea was a wonderful welcome after my walk. So I set out some goodies on the gazebo table.

I'll pour you a cup too! These great Lenox mugs ( from my dear friend Nan) are perfect size for  an early spring tea in the garden.

As I sat in the gazebo ... with a view of the garden area, it occurred to me how quickly things change.
April 9-10th 2013, after a couple of warm temperature days,
Mr. G. decided to set the outside furniture in place.

This is what we woke up to on April 11th, 2013 ...
How quickly things can change.

Our lives can be much like the weather. Clear, bright, warm and sunny
and than without much warning become grey, dark, and gloomy.

The drab looking gardens will be beaming with beautiful flowers in a couple of weeks. And only days earlier the ground was covered with traces of snow ~

and then just as quickly change and make way for wonderful new growth. Just like the first signs of re-birth and growth in the garden. Under the debris of a harsh cold winter ... new growth is pushing itself through. Here shata daisies, tulips, and the first sprouts of the peonies are making their way.

If you are going through a bit of bad weather ... know that it will pass and new wonderful adventures are just around the corner.
CHANGE is certain ...

  2. Dearest Celia,
If it was not for the rebirth of nature; we would all be in depression I guess! It gives us all hope; it leads us and shows us that there is beauty coming our way again!
Enjoy your garden teas. We had ours on the balcony. Even though it is still windy and on Saturday when I did clean the balcony of all the live oak catkins, and hosed it down, guess I caught a cold in my back. Some sleepless nights again but let's hope that will be IT.
    Hugs to you,
    Mariette

  3. Hi Celia
I love the butterfly thermos and tea outside. I'm still waiting for my furniture to be put out and plan on spending more time in the garden this week to clean up.

  6. What a sweet table you laid out - so fresh and pretty - I just love the blue flask with the butterflies on - gorgeous. Lovely words too for all of us who aren't feeling too Spring-like at the moment!

  7. I love the picture of the pretty blue furniture against the almost green landscape, but wow, the snow is unreal. What a fabulous spot to have tea. Thanks so much for joining Inspire Me. Hugs, Marty

  8. Hi Celia,
Nothing is so certain like the change. I love this change from cold temperatures to warm weather more than everything else. You have a wonderful garden, so wide, wild and romantic. There will be a lot to discover from plants and animals, I am sure. Your Gazebo looks wonderful and so is your tea time. Thank you so much for this lesson for the Life. I enjoyed it very much.
    Best greetings, Johanna

  9. Celia, your post is thoughtful and beautiful. It is so true, things can change so quickly.
You have taken the time to celebrate the better weather. That is wonderful. Soon you will be able to have tea outside without a thermos to keep it warm. Your outdoor area looks so calm and peaceful.
Thank you so much for sharing,
    hugs,
    Terri

  10. Hi darling Celia ... your property looks lovely! I'm wondering what your 17 degrees translates to in my temperature (fahrenheit). It's been cool here too (and grey) for the most part this spring but yesterday was sunny and sixty eight degrees (F). Today we're back down into the 50's. Love reading about your daily thoughts, many people responded to me via instagram, twitter and comments that they wanted to pop over to meet you and hear your story and I certainly hope they do, as it is inspiring to us all. Have a lovely week my friend, if I were there I'd sip along with you! xo ~S

  12. Love this post so much. It inspires me to create some little sitting places here and there in my yard, on my deck, on the front porch, back deck... I am going to have some fun while I relax and drink my tea! Love your pictures and REALLY love your thermos. Now I have to go look for one. Sometimes visiting your blog gets expensive for me (hoho).

  15. Celia, I had just replied to you on your lovely comment about the weather...we are the same, up and down like a yo yo. I like tradition! You are right, moods swing with the weather changes...sigh. Your garden is LOVELY and I know you will be in it often, how I love that you set up your tea there.

  16. Oh yes, I relate to that weather.. 90 one day, then a 26 degree freeze the next morning.. Spring in West Texas!! Your yard is so tranquil. Sitting in the gazebo with the hot tea and delights would be wonderful. xo marlis

  17. What a lovely post and your words about change are so true. What a difference a few days have made to your lovley garden and your tea for two table is so charming. I can't wait to be able to sit outside with tea and cakes but today in the North of England we have high winds and it's a little chilly!
