Every Beginning starts from an Ending ~ A Memory In Time ~

October 28th, 2006 ~ 8:30 p.m.

This date and time will forever be the defining moment at which my life as
I knew it, lived it, loved it, enjoyed it, and treasured came to an end.

The voice I had known as mine is no more, in its place
is a voice I do not recognize, at times, as belonging to me.

The once toned, fit, healthy body that encased and kept my soul safe,
is now a reflection I don't reconize in the mirror.

The sharp, quick , capable of making the toughest decisions,
mind, giving me independence ~ is no longer.
It is now slower, foggy, and confused at times,
requiring to depend on others for support.

On this day I say... I have not forgotten "ME" and miss "ME" terribly.
But I'm learning to treasure the time , laughter, tears, happiness
and the memories made, before it all came to an end.
I will use it all as a stepping stone to "Re-invent ME"..

ME 3.0 ~ In Development!!

=====================================================
Haunting Thoughts....

The man whose driver’s car door mirror would take my life could only say
“I didn’t see her”. What could he have been doing that he did not see me standing there?

In a well lit area, wearing a white coat, waiting for traffic to pass. I don’t recall any part of the accident ~ have been told, witnesses were saying at the scene “She was waiting to finish crossing”

When asked by police what speed he was going ? The driver said “the speed limit” when asked what that was he replied “60 km”  It’s a 50 km area. Speeding by his own admission, yet not charged.

What kind of person strikes another person down with his vehicle and months later his insurance had still not been notified?

NEW YOU ~ Healthy Eating Part 1

I chose fitness (physical & emotional) as a kick start to my re-invention ~ to read first post click here.

Unfortunately fitness alone will not get me to where I would like to be, enter nutrition plan. To keep me focused on my goal I have enlisted the help of a Nutritionist. First we reviewed a list I had kept on my food intake for over a 3 -4 day period. The nutritionist utilized this information to determine my eating habits and required adjustments. Oh … you want to know the results!! ~ smiling~

Based on what I ate it was determined, that I needed to increase my protein and fiber intake and decrease my carb and fat intake. Part of the challenge is my ability to use the stove independently. I have been relying on no-stove required meals = carbs and fatty foods (mainly for lunch) for both ease and maintaining some independence. The meds also are not helping with the weight challenge.

Nutritionist is currently working on a meal plan tailored to my needs, yet using foods I like; I can’t wait to get started. In the meantime here are some tips that I found useful:

- Start the day with water and lemon, w/ ginger (optional) . Water and lemon will get your system moving and ready for the day. Remember to drink water throughout the day.

- Gradually modify your eating habits. This will help you transition to healthier eating, but also reduce the cravings of the not so healthy foods = you are more likely to completely transition without giving up.

- Eat more vegetables and fruits. I really need to work o this.

- Eat your food as close to its natural state as possible. The less ingredients the better ... i.e yogurt: milk ingredients, bacterial, culture ~ if your yogurt has more than these try looking for something else.

- Reduce the amount of processed food you eat. Home cooked is best.
- It is important to know what a portion size is. You may be eating the right healthy foods but your portions may be doing all your hard efforts a disservice.

So what exactly is a portion? Hopefully the image below will help you to streamline your eating.

Remember eating properly is a lifestyle choice not a DIET!!!

What are your eating habits like?

What advice would you give to someone who wants to be healthy and fit?

I Believe in Angels ~ Do You

Heavenly angels, often referred to as Guardian Angels, are mentioned numerous times in the Scriptures. We learn angels are spiritual beings created by God to serve him, and sent by Him to watch over us, to guard and protect us.

I thank God each and every day for the Angels on watch the night of my accident, for it was they who held my head. Later as I started theroad of recovery and my faith and belief would start to waiver; it was them who gently reminded me how precious life is and though my life was now going to be different, I was still alive and able to share His love with others.
Even in your darkest moments ~ Know that you are not alone

Have Faith, Believe and don't give up ... no matter what!!
For though we may not understand at the moment , one day we will.

Do you believe in Angels?

New Year Resolutions ~ how are you doing?

We all make them and most of the time some of us will forget what we set out as our resolution(s) or remember but took not steps/action to achieve. Well as the clock nearer the midnight hour on December 31st, 2009, friends and I made lists of our resolutions for 2010. I posted my on my tack board and may have looked at it once or twice since.

The fact that it is written and had been carefully tacked up means that they are there to be verified as achieved or not. I thought I would share a few and let you know how I’m doing.

1) Find the strength to admit I need more help than I let on. An agree to get extra help, so that Mr. G.’s role is more of partner than care provider.

- I finally admitted YES… I need more help and we have been working on getting someone in to take over some of the tasks Mr. G has been helping with.

2) Eat healthy and maintain a fitness program.

- well the year did not start out too good nor did it get better. My lack of energy really made this a tough one. I’m happy to say for the past 7 weeks I have maintained a fitness program of weekly yoga class, personal trainer at gym, reiki and reflexology and have recently added meditation. Also I have turned to a nutritionist for some help in the eating area.

3) To stay away from negativity both people and situations.

- so far so good. I try to surround myself with only positive people.

4) Travel to Tuscany, Paris and New York.

- made to Paris … but the year is not over yet..

5) Learn to accept my limitations since accident, focus on What I Can Do! Not let what I can longer do easily or without consequences (i.e. over doing it).

- This is a work in progress but I feel I’m doing much better at learning to pace myself.

6) Enjoy life ~ live in the moment. Slowly start putting my thoughts together to write a book, practice my writing.

- A work in progress. I do try to live in the moment and if anyone knows that we ALL do come with an expiration date ~ I certainly do. I started blogging to practice my writing and grammar skills. Slowly working on book as energy allows.

Do you make resolutions?

How have you been doing this year?

Have you started to think about 2011
and what you will try to achieve?

Dolce Goes to the Land of Sunshine ~ DolcePaws Friday

STELLA: Dolce, I had a great time at grandma S's!
I played with M, A, J and
went for long walks. Bella was very playful ~
she's ok for a small doggie.
How was your visit with
auntie M and uncle M?

DOLCE:  At the airport they thought I was a doggie!
I heard them say I would need to stay in my
bag and under the seat...

Auntie M. had a great big bed for me ...

Mommy was so tired from travelling,
I thought I better stay close to
keep an eye on her....

When Mommy woke up, we went for a tour of the community.
They have everything, golf course, game and fitness rooms,
lots of entertaiing areas and places to walk, restaurants
and 2 pools!! But I was not allowed to go in... I don't get it!

One was a regular pool...

The other one was paradise..

It was very hot and the sun was really bright
Daddy bought me some sunglasses ... who knew
they had sun glasses my size!!

Florida is Furbaby friendly ..
I couldn't believe my eyes

I had to take a closer look...
to make sure I was reading was right...
They have Furbaby water fountains!!

Then ... I saw this sign...

Can you BELIEVE IT... they have a Furbaby nite out!!
This is our kinda town... I saw little Furbabies like me
and big Furbabies like you. We got to go everywhere!!!

I was ready for my PJs, when we got back to auntie M's.
Auntie M treated me to new PJs ... they are so comfy!

STELLA : Sounds like a really nice place... I heard
Mommy and Daddy saying if they drive down I can go too!!
The airplane would make me go in cargo, so its a drive if I come along.

DOLCE: They have strange doggies there ..

I had lots of fun... I tried to lay on the towels so Auntie M,
couldn't do laundry, and we would get to stay.

But no luck! I left auntie M and uncle M and gift.
I hope they find it...

Auntie and uncle M came home on the same plane as us!

When we got to their house...
grandma V , uncle O and auntie M were their to surprise us!
Everyone was so tired ~ we didn't even take pictures...

As we drove home, I turned and Woofed bye to everyone...

I can't wait to go to Florida again!!

Help Keep This Endangered Species Alive ~ & Flip Flops & Pearl Blog Make~Over Giveaway

Hi there , if you are like me ~ a little overwhelmed with Blogger features, but would love to have someone wave a magic wand and POOF! You would have an amazing Blog with all the little details you crave , but just don't know the right ingredient combination to get it done.

Well, Your day just got better our wonderful friend over at Flip Flops & Pearls is hosting a fantastic Blog Make-Over Giveaway... so what are you waiting for .. click on over .... and enter!!!

and don't forget to check out my post below for a fantastic opportunity to bring the art of letter writing back!!

Help Keep This Endangered Species Alive!!

In this fast paced world of e-mail, text and other electronic forms of communication, the art of letter writing and all that goes with is becoming lost. When was the last time you actually wrote a letter, addressed the envelope, affixed a stamp and dropped it in the mail box? Now, think how the last handwritten letter you received, made you feel?

Are you interested in keeping the Lost Art of Letter Writing Alive? If so, I have an idea ~ I would like to start a BlogLand Pen Pal Club. How great would it be to correspond and get to know someone and about the city/town they live in, through the simplicity of letter writing? And with the state of today’s economy, wouldn't it be great to look forward to something other than bills in the mailbox.

There will be no fees, or rules to joining my BlogLand Pen Pal Club, all I ask is that if you choose to participate that you write to the person you are partnered with. Ideally it would be great to be able to partner everyone with a partner in another country; this of course will be dependent on who chooses to participate. I will try and match people as far from each other as geographically possible.

HOW IT WILL WORK…

Email me fallingoffahighheeledlife@gmail.com   letting me know that you want to participate, in your email be sure to include your mailing address.

~ This should be done prior to the 1st of the month

~ On the first of each month you will receive an email from me with the contact info (mailing address, email address and Blog link) for your BLPPC partner.

~Please try to have your letter out to your partner by the 15th of the month.

~You can keep just the one BLPPC partner or join again next month to receive an additional partner.

~After your first letter exchange it is up to you how often you write each other. If you feel the person whom you were partnered with is not a good match or perhaps you are unable to keep up with writing and you wish to discontinue exchanging letters ~ please let them know (a quick email would do.), do not just stop writing.

~ There will be a Blog Roll on my Blog containing the Blog names for BlogLand Pen Pal Club ~ keeping the Art of Letter Writing Alive, participants; with a link to your Blog.

I’m sure like with any new ideas there will be some tweaking to be done along the way with this. But I truly think it will be both fun and rewarding for all.

SO WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?

Lets get this started for November 1st ...

email me at    fallingoffahighheeledlife@gmail.com   and together lets keep the art of letter writing ALIVE!!
