PANAMANIA - Nathan Phillips Square

Toronto has had the honour of hosting the 2015 PanAm & Parapan Am Games and Nathan Phillips Square has been a buzzing hub of energy with, more than 130 different performances from artists including The Roots, The Flaming Lips, Calle 13, Jann Arden, Brigitte Boisjoli, A Tribe Called Red, Lila Downs and many more. Live coverage of the games is broadcast on two large screens and nightly celebration firework displays are eye candy for children and the inner child in all of us.

If you follow me on Instagram, you will have seen the photo of the fireworks from Nathan Phillips Square that I had the unexpected surprise of seeing while sipping cappuccino and enjoying a Crème brûlée sampler on the roof top patio of the Park Hyatt hotel in Yorkville, on Friday evening. Seeing the fireworks brought to my attention that I had yet to make it down to Nathan Phillips Square and take in all the excitement that has been happening there during the Pan Am & Parapan Am Games.

I'm so glad I made it down to NPS on Sunday ... and so was my inner child!!! There were letters to play in, on and around; games to play; big pink chairs to sit in; and swings to swing on ...

CIBC's swing set includes a special swing for wheel chairs ... so, everyone gets to play!!!

If you live in Toronto or are visiting before August 12 - I highly suggest you come and play at Nathan Phillips Square! And take in all the PANAMANIA fun...

Have you let your inner child out to play lately?

Staying Cool - Afternoon in the Park

The temperatures in Toronto have been hitting extreme HOT levels. Daily temps staying firm around the mid to high 30 degree Celsius - and with humidity feeling more like low to mid 40s. In the evenings there has not been much relief with temperatures only dipping to high and mid 20s - and humid most nights. Skirts, shorts and sleeveless tops have definitely become the days go to wardrobe pieces, for trying to beat the heat.

For those who follow HHL on Instagram you may already know my treat of choice for staying cool has quickly become GELATO!! and I even discovered a place that offers a little kick in their gelato choices - with a Tecquila Mojito gelato, which I may or may not have indulged in ...

What I wore : sleeveless blouse - Pink Rose  : skirt - Lilly Pulitzer; sandals - Lilly Pulitzer: accessories: watch - Lucien Piccard; tote - Louis Viutton; sunglasses - Gucci

What are your go to wardrobe pieces when the heat is on full blast?

Hot Summer Evenings in the City ... What I Wore - cotton and linen

The weather has been out of this world AMAZING this past week, in Toronto. Days have been sunshine filled with temperatures in the high 20s and low 30s (feeling much hotter on humid days). Evenings have remained hot; only cooling off in the early hours of  the morning just before the heat takes over again. On the odd evening a slight breeze has been welcomed, encouraging evening outings. The week-end was more of the same.

Having spent the day doing chores around the city house and various trips to Home Depot on Saturday, Mr. G. and I rewarded ourselves with dinner out. After a wonderful meal at Trattoria Nervosa the warmth of the evening called for a gelato stop at Zaza's and a stroll through Yorkville.

There is still a lot of construction taking place on Yorkville Avenue - but the finish looks close - and it's much easier to navigate your way from one side of the street to the other. The new cobblestone street is looking fabulous.

Thankfully the parkette is on Cumberland - the waterfall fountain, natural gardens, and ample places to sit (from table and chairs, sitting on the rock ledges or the big rock right beside the Cumberland subway exit) is perfect for walking off some extra calories or just extending an evening outing a little longer while enjoying this great weather!!

What I wore : blouse - Simply Errisistible : pants - Elie Tahari; wedge sandals - Stuart Weitzman  : accessories: watch - Cartier; pink bracelet - Galm&Tease; bead bracelet - Pandora Essence Collection; blue cuff bracelet, dangly blue earrings and silver & blue stone ring - finds at various Artisan markets; tote - Louis Viutton; handbag shoe decoration - gift from dear friend Mariette of Mariette's Back to Basics; eye glasses - Chanel

What has the weather been like where you live? Where do you like going in your city, to enjoy the warm summer evenings?

You are the curator of your life so make it luxurious,
