Let's Eat Toronto: Cluny Bistro & Boulangerie

Photo taken during my first visit in late summer 2015 - where the crowd enjoyed the outdoor patio.
As you walk through the doors you become instantly aware that you are stepping into something extraordinary. To the left is a boulangerie that rivals many of the ones I have visited in Paris; straight ahead is the dinning room, which instantly ignites memories of my visits to Ladurée on the Champs-Elysées and Angelina on Rivoli; and to the right is the bar, both elegant and inviting. For this visit Mr. G. and I enjoyed a wonderful weekend late lunch early dinner in the bar area.

 Framed drop ceiling ..
the decor is breath taking!

They offer a great selection of oysters ... pick your favourite or discover a new one

I am not much of a French onion soup gal ... but I did try Mr,.G's and it was impressive.
Mr. G. is a true connoisseur and he was still raving about how amazing it was the next day.

Mr. G. went for the Steak and Frites
the beef is raised naturally, hormone & antibiotic free in Grey County

Moi .. 3 cheese omelet topped with truffles ..
YUM! does not begin to describe how pleased I was with my choice!

Passion Fruit Soufflé - from summer visit
We got our dessert to go from the boulangerie  - and forgot to take photos before devouring the mouth watering works of art, so I'm including a photo of the Passion Fruit Soufflé from summer visit, which I highly recommend you try. It is as scrumptious as it looks

Cheers ...

Mr. G. is already planning reservations for the dinning room ...
I think Cluny's is going to be on the list of our favourite places to dine.

Cluny Bistro & Boulangerie is located in the Distillery District - visit their website here

Lowe's Toronto Christmas Market -in the Distillery District

Christmas Markets originated in Germany during the early 1400s and are now becoming a trend worldwide. These markets celebrate the traditional sights, sounds and scents of Christmas in the weeks leading up to Christmas.

In Toronto you can experience the charm of a European Christmas Market, by visiting the Distillery District. Lowe's Toronto Christmas market is a free annual event showcasing hundreds of unique and local handcrafted products. Below are some photos of our evening out taking in this free event.

The lights are amazing!!! Carolers and choirs .....rides make this a wonderful family event!

Lots of vendor huts ...selling food, beverages and handcrafted goods.

Imagining what could be inside such a huge gift box!!!!

A merry-go-round brings memories of my childhood Christmas in Europe....

This vendor was selling all things Dutch ... bringing back memories of our trip to The Netherlands in May earlier this year.

La Vela Bella Inc. had me at teacup!

Brilliant antique teacups filled with handmade soy wax candles ...

Perfect gift for all tea loving people on your gift list!!!
You can find La Vela Bella candles here. Visit their website La Vela Bella here. or check them out on FaceBook here. I know these are on my Christmas wish list ...
These handcrafted Santas are amazing - unfortunately you can only get them while they are in the country - here at The Lowe's Christmas Market .

Magical...

Lots of people bundle up to keep warm in dark coats ... I was a beacon of beige in a sea of black...

Coca -Cola was giving out bottles of coke ....

Sipping a cool treat ... but really ready for something warm.

Just in time we came across a Tea House ... they weren't serving tea ... but the selection of teas inside was amazing. As you can see by the line-up it is a popular place to purchase tea for steeping a cup at home.

The shop inside is wonderful ... they have a no photo policy ... but I did get a card to contact the owner and hopefully she will let me feature her shop on an up coming Over a Cup Tea with Celia M. series.  The above photo is of a tea setting on the shop's outside window ledge. In the mean time I will be sharing the tea we purchased on next week's Over a Cup of Tea.

Another great way to keep warm was by sitting around these fire-pits...

Keep hands warm and toasty...

Be sure to make this Christmas Market a part of your week-end! I would suggest bringing your own thermos with hot chocolate as the line ups can be long.

Where and what you need to know:
Friday November 29 to Sunday December 15
Monday to Friday Noon to 9pm
