Springtime Rainy Day Essentials ~ What I Wore

As winter melts into spring there are THREE items that I find essential to weathering the rain and dampness.

1. Umbrella
An Umbrella is a must have for the rainy days of spring.
I have small to mid size ones that easily fit into my handbags. But it is my walking Pasotti Purple Dalhia umbrella that I often reach for on wet days.

2. Waterproof Footwear
Tall boots, mid-calf boots and slip on loafers in patent leather and rubber
offer versatility and keeping feet dry.

3. Rain-coat/jacket
Trench coats, jackets and vests made of waterproof or water-resistant fabric are perfect for keeping you dry, and enabling layering to keep you warm.

My knee length Pink Tartan trench  in soft grey and pink toned floral print on white background is versatile for casual and business attire. It rolls up and tucks into a small pouch that fits in my handbag making it perfect for traveling. Here I used it on my trip to Ottawa.

On this day rain was not in the forecast but there was still a slight chill in the air ... my Zara vest was the perfect choice to keep me cozy warm over my sweater. And my Burberry cap kept my head warm.

what I wore: umbrella - Pasotti; rain boots -  mid calf -Burberry, patent leather: Aquatalia by Marvin K; patent leather loafer - Tahari; trench coat - Pink Tartan; jacket - Burberry; vest - Zara; cap -Burberry; sunglasses - Gucci

What rainy day essentials help you stay dry and warm?

You are the curator of your life so make it luxurious,

Discovering the Toronto Subway - What I Wear

If you would have told me when I first moved to Toronto 20 plus years ago that one day I would be taking the subway by choice, I would have laughed and probably suggested that you cut back on the bubbly.

After living in the country for the past 7 years, I'm ready to give city life another chance and have been spending more time at my home in the city. When I was speaking with Mr. G. about this "adventure" of returning to the city- I said - I was going to embrace city living like I had never done before - and that included learning to take the subway!  My how life changes, here I am today taking the subway by choice.

And since I don't usually do things the easy way ...
I picked a snowstorm day to venture out and "explore" the subway.

As drivers slipped and slid on the snow covered streets ...

I made my way warm and comfortably beneath the city.  And what's even more amazing about taking the subway is all the underground paths. Once you learn the stops - you can move around the city without venturing out into the cold. If you are lucky to live steps from the subway and work within the subway paths you can literally avoid the winter weather.

I'm learning comfort dressing is key when it comes to taking the subway. My Cole Haan boots, cross body bag from a Paris market, Gucci sunglasses (for when I venture outside), Coach gloves and Michael Kors ear muffs have become my go to winter accessories on my subway days.

My Kenneth Cole winter coat has proven to have been a great investment. It keeps me warm and has a hood that can be easily pulled up when the temps drop, the wind blows and the snow begins to fall. My Ralph Lauren scarf keeps my neck warm.

My pink tones Burberry scarf and black leather Soho shoulder bag - Gucci and Chanel eyeglasses (for indoors).

And what's a subway outing without stopping to enjoy a hot chocolate and treat.

Looking Stylish in the Rain ...

The calendar says SPRING has arrived !!! and once the snow finally disappears and the temps start going above zero - the rain will come. But that does not mean we can't dress stylish. Whether you opt for wellies or heels I hope these images will inspire you to add a little fun into your rainy day outfits.

Sarah Jessica Parker not letting the rain dampen her style...
Wellies like Hunters or Burberry easily turn a dreary wet day into a fun stylish day...

And who says you can't wear heels in the rain???? ...

Classic trench coat inspired ...

A little red twist on a classic ...

My Pasotti Purple Dahlia umbrella with its double canopy which conceals the frame work of the umbrella with a large dahlia on the inside is how I add a little style and fun to my rainy days. I surprised myself when I splurged on it a couple of years ago, but it was worth every penny - not only is the hand made quality perfection! Seeing the dahlia inside on rainy days brightens my day and I smile.

How do you add fun and style to your rainy days?

Hugs and Blessings,

What I Wore to OpportuniTEAS with Kate Linder & Friends

Recently while in the city (Toronto) I attended OpportuniTEAS with Kate Linder & Friends in support of the March of Dimes, held at The Fairmont Hotel. Proceeds from this event go to Conductive Education a program of March of Dimes Canada.

The weather was turning a little cooler on this day so layering was essential. I wore my Dolce and Gabbana black pant which is a staple in my wardrobe. I paired the pants with my white Burberry T and my Hermes scarf from a couple of seasons ago. I accessorized with my Hermes orange enamel bracelet, Christian Bernard watch, Hermes leather belt and a black glass bead  stretch bracelet I purchased from InPink  when I won a giveaway hosted by Ava Grace's Closet this past year. The final layer before my winter coat was a black jacket by Elie Tahari.
Almost inside ...

Tickets for the event ....

Kate Linder (top left) host brought along 3 of her cast-mates from Young & the Restless to help. Jess Walton (top right); Christian LeBlance (bottom left) and Marco Dapper (bottom right).

The Co-host was Toronto's own Leslie Roberts - who is the Anchor of The News Hour and Co-host of The Morning Show, Global Toronto.

Artists to the stars - Patti Denny & George Guzman (sitting at the right) were on hand to treat lucky auction bidder to a celebrity make-over.

Our host Kate and friends sat on stage and answered questions from the audience. It was interesting listening to how passionate the viewers of The Young and the Restless are - as they asked about the various stories lines on this day time soap that celebrates 25 years.

The tablesetting for attendees was done in white... with a white rose petal table table cloth.

We were able to choose from a selection of fine Fairmont teas....

A surprise .... as this young lady spoke I realized she was the daughter a new friend I had meant earlier in the year when I completed my Angel Practitioner training with Charles Virtue (son of Doreen Virtue). Ashleigh is a brilliant soul and her question was to Marco - if he was single. Since he was - she made a good case since she too is single that they should meet up.
The tray of sweets consisted of fruit cake, cream filled swans, Victorian cream cake, and orange chocolate Madelines.

Though the event started at 2 pm... the sandwiches by the time we sat down at 2:05 pm .. had been devoured by the other attendees at our table - so I have no photo - but I understand it was a selection of Tomato cucumber, ham and onion confit, tuna scallion, smoked turkey and cranberry, egg and watercress.

Warm English honey crumpets and homemade plain and cranberry scones with thick Devonshire cream and strawberry jam.

Ashleigh was the successful bidder on a dress worn by the character Phyllis on Y&R and had the opportunity to have her photo taken with Marco.

Kate's bracelet was stunning!!!

Thank you for stopping by for tea today ...
