Ever Wonder how handwritten letters got their start?
The first recorded handwritten letter (epistle) was by
Persian Queen Atossa around 500 BC.
Letters were not placed in envelopes nor did they have a stamp.
Letters were folded and sealed by wax with ring or hand seal.
The recipient of the letter had to pay on its receipt.
The stamped letter we know today came into being during the reign of Queen Victoria in 1840.
