Springtime Rainy Day Essentials ~ What I Wore

As winter melts into spring there are THREE items that I find essential to weathering the rain and dampness.

1. Umbrella
An Umbrella is a must have for the rainy days of spring.
I have small to mid size ones that easily fit into my handbags. But it is my walking Pasotti Purple Dalhia umbrella that I often reach for on wet days.

2. Waterproof Footwear
Tall boots, mid-calf boots and slip on loafers in patent leather and rubber
offer versatility and keeping feet dry.

3. Rain-coat/jacket
Trench coats, jackets and vests made of waterproof or water-resistant fabric are perfect for keeping you dry, and enabling layering to keep you warm.

My knee length Pink Tartan trench  in soft grey and pink toned floral print on white background is versatile for casual and business attire. It rolls up and tucks into a small pouch that fits in my handbag making it perfect for traveling. Here I used it on my trip to Ottawa.

On this day rain was not in the forecast but there was still a slight chill in the air ... my Zara vest was the perfect choice to keep me cozy warm over my sweater. And my Burberry cap kept my head warm.

what I wore: umbrella - Pasotti; rain boots -  mid calf -Burberry, patent leather: Aquatalia by Marvin K; patent leather loafer - Tahari; trench coat - Pink Tartan; jacket - Burberry; vest - Zara; cap -Burberry; sunglasses - Gucci

Putting My Best Face Forward - Spring Cleansing Essentials

As the weather warms up shirt sleeves become shorter, and long pants start to be replaced with Capri pants, skirts and for the real daring folks - shorts. Its a good time to examine your face and cleansing products and make sure they are doing what you need them to do as the season changes from freezing cold to warmer temperatures.

On the left is a photo of the products I was using through the winter and was finding my skin just no longer feeling them. On the right is a photo of the products I'm currently using. You will note, some products stayed while others have been replaced.

I have been an avid user of  Clinique Clarifying Lotion as a toner since my mid twenties - but this year I started to feel it really dried out my skin - I have switched for Sephora's Fresh Rose Floral Toner; L'Oreal's purifying gel wash cleanser has also been switched for Sephora's Fresh Rose Cleanser Foam; Shiseido replaced the Shopper's brand make-up pads; St. Ives apricot scrub has been my go to for years, when it comes to facial scrubs; and I'm still loving my Cala facial brush. I'm currently on the hunt for a great eye and lip make-up remover (please leave any suggestions in the comments below).
Dry skin brushing is not only great for helping to exfoliate it's also great for circulation; a pumice stone keeps your feet soft between pedi; bath/shower scrubbies are not only great for lathering up your body wash they help with exfoliating. I'm loving St. Ives Indulgent Coconut Milk Body wash.

Round up of what I am currently using to cleanse and nourish my skin.
Body Wash - St. Ives Indulgent Coconut Milk
What I'm loving: the subtle coconut fragrance and deep hydrating.

Skin Dry Brushes - Hydrea London,
What I'm loving: I have been a huge fan of dry skin brushing and these really are easy to hold and the natural bristles are gentle yet effective.

Facial Cleansing Brush - Cala
What I'm loving: the soft bristles are gentle and feel amazing on the skin.

Bath Scrubbie - Shopper's Drug Mart
What I'm loving: the way my body wash lathers up

Pumice Stone - Cleanlogic
What I'm loving: I love the curve of this stone, it is easy to use on the heel, and easily glides under the arch of my foot and polishes the sides of my big toe too!! this is definitely a keeper.

Make-up Pads - Shiseido Facial Cotton
What I'm loving: the softness and the durability

Eye Make-up Remover - Nivea Eye  Make-up Remover

Facial Scrub - St. Ives Apricot scrub
What I'm loving: have been using for as long as I  can remember - the gentleness with which it exfoliates my facial skin. Continues to be a keeper.

Facial Cleanser - Fresh Rose Cleanser Foam (Sephora)
What I'm loving: the way the liquid foams up as it is dispensed and how effectively and ease which make-up is removed. My skin is left clean and the light rose scent is soothing to the senses.

Facial Toner - Fresh Rose Floral Toner (Sephora)
What I'm loving: that it can be spritzed on or applied using a facial pad. My skin feels refreshed and when I spritz it on and before the toner is fully absorbed into skin , I begin to apply my moisturizer - it feels like the skin absorbs the moisturizer much better. And again the light rose scent is soothing.

* (new -will let you know if it stays)

It's Starting to Feel A Lot Like Spring - what I wore

The weather has finally started to turn here in Toronto. A couple weekends ago the temperatures warmed up enough to shed winter coats, and bring out some spring wear. Not quite open toe shoe weather but shoes - a break from boots.

We made our way down to the Harbourfront and we'er pleasantly surprised
that the temps stayed comfortable with just light clothing.

One of the many beautiful things about Toronto's waterfront is that you have the back drop of the lake and ....

then the city ... with a simple turn.
Did you notice the plane landing at the island airport in the photo above?
Yes, Toronto has a small (but amazing) airport right in the city.

It was such a beautiful day being close to the water and the warmth of sunshine.
A real mood booster!! For humans and furbabies alike.

Outfit: sunglasses: Gucci, vest: Zara woman, shirt: We The Free, jeans: Suko, belt: Hermes, shoes: Geox-respira

Paws in the City: Dolce's and Gabbana's Playdate at Purina PawsWay

Dolce and Gabbana are happy that the warmer weather is finally here! Because this means they get to start exploring the city for fun furbaby  friendly things to do. A couple weekends ago the stop was at Harbourfront - and though they were there last summer they had yet to discover Purina's PawsWay...
As we stepped in we came face to face with some adorable felines who are up for adoption.

Gabbana was quite curious ... and pranced right up to the glass.. she really is fearless (so long as its not the sound of crinkly plastic or paper bags; or loud sounds - than she freezes up).

as we made our way to the enclosed  play area at the back ...

there is a boutique for the fashionable four legged ones ...
There is even a Doggie Treat vending machine ....

The play area is enclosed and all furbabies are off leash ... there are separate times for large and small breeds ... so its perfect !
There was definitely lots of chasing and sniffing going on.... everyone had a pawsitively barking time!!

Dolce and Gabbana made some new friends and can't wait to go back for a sniffing and chase!

Gabbana was ready for some H2O after chasing and sniffing!

You can checkout all the fun activities taking place at Purina PawsWay by checking out their website here.

If you known of places that Dolce and Gabbana should check out in the city, please share in comments or drop me an email at Hello@HighHeeledLife.com .
